Well, I made the classic mistake of taking my time and browsing the gun shop when all I went in for was to get some ammo.

I saw this Martini hidden away on a rack and after taking a look at it for a couple of minutes, I knew I wasn't leaving the store without it. Thankfully, it was reasonably cheap, especially considering it came from a store, on consignment.

It is a bit rough right now, needs the stock refinished and it could use a nice reblue. The bluing is probably 90%+ right now, but I would really like this rifle to look great.

Reasonably nice wood on the buttstock. The stock looks worse in the pictures.

It is a Model 15, with integral peep sights, and if you look at the picture of the peep sight, you can see there is a hole under the sight which is for cleaning the gun from the breech end.!!!

Nice crisp trigger and a 29 inch heavy barrel. Makes it really steady holding it offhand. Many of these rifles were guaranteed to shoot 1 1/2" groups, at 100 yards, and most did much better.

This is what I am considering doing with the stock. Only the forestock would be longer. The butt can be modified as is but I would buy a new forestock rough shaped to a schnabel style.

Beautiful find, be a great project. I know all about going to the gun shop and having things follow you home. Last trip for a $3.99 bottle of knife honing oil, cost over $500.

My Model 15 was made into a 22 K-Hornet by the previous owner and it is a tack-driver. All I've done to it is put an old 7x Fecker Woodchucker on it.
Ideal for rodents and really cheap to reload for.

Very nice piece. I always regret not buying a Martini that made the gun show circuit here years ago.

Another Classic

Posted before but since we're at it -

I restored this one a number of years ago - the walnut is from a french tree dating back to Napoleon.

Great find and at that price it was a steal.

Love the BSA's, I have owned a few over the years but I have held onto one that really shoots far better than I can.
