I am not at all surprised at the R18's "Brutality" performance, as it is entirely consistent with what I have been saying all along - the R18 IS ready for prime-time! All of the past doubters can take a long, hard suck on the rifle's superb demonstrated reliablility....
Ok nice. I ordered the first one but canceled it so I could get Gen 1.5 lol

The answer is probably a resounding “no way josé”, but will there be financing or layaway options? Was going to pick one lf these up, then found out I had a brain tumor and have had to take time off work, but I’d still love to support you guys making AMAZING, stylish NRs for us lol

The project sponsor mentioned an extremely light weight AR-15ish pencil barreled now prohibited rifle, actually comparable to the WWSD, which sounds impressive.
Once the R18 piston version has sold for a while and production is ticking along nicely, is their any thought to making a version with a bolt and carrier modified as a Stoner pseudo-piston and impinged by gas from a tube instead of a piston, while still using the AR180 based dual recoil springs and guide rods?
An American manufacturer's product has proven this works, and a Canadian distributor managed to work with them to get a post OIC FRT entry for the firearm, so far now such a firearm is not verboten. A Canadian manufacturer us working on a DI-ish BCG for existing 180B based platforms, as well.
The American manufacturer's rifle is clunky looking, while the R18 is a thing of beauty. Do people think their might be a market for a gas impinged Stoner pseudo-piston version of the R18?

Now that the R18 has reached its current, refined state with the adjustable Gas Block and heightened Rear Picatinny Buttstock interface, I'm not sure that Sterling Arms Int'l will be keen to tinker further without first making substantial sales. Even then, to go from Short-Stroke Piston to Direct Impingement would require a major engineering redesign. With the Rifle-length Gas System already offering minimal perceived recoil, I am not convinced that the redesign results would be worth the effort and expense....

Point taken, this does not make sense in the near term. The reason to do it would be to lighten the platform further, since there would be no piston, and potentially allow the re-use of more parts from donor prohibited rifles on a svelter, more aesthetically pleasing platform then the alternative manufacturer's offering. It might make sense to only trigger this project if the court challenges against the OIC fail; at that point a a high quality kit to re- home parts from high quality firearms that end up in lakes may be more in demand.
