New Release from Chiappa!!!!

Right on, that'd be the way to go.

You could by the Stevez Gunz sight kit from his website (kinda expensive) and drill the hole and glue it in.
No problem shipping small stuff less than $100 in value to Canada.
I kinda like things that can be removed so I think I'd drill and tap the hole in the bolt and thread the aperture sight stem.
I'm sure there are aperture sights made here in Canada that can be adapted to the purpose.
If you aren't handy and good at diy get a smith to do it.

I'd joke about it only holding 4rds, but if 4rds of 45/70 don't kill it, it probably doesn't die.

Checked the back 40 for T-rex tracks this PM and didn't find any so 4 x Buffalo Bore 430 grainers @ 1950 fps MV pushing 3500+ ft-lbs of ME would probably kill anything in North America I'm likely to encounter.
Should stop anything organic.

What they used to call "financially embarrassed" back in the day. ;)

i know the call back for work is soon now that the may long is over but just not going to happen on this one
the hell with it I will get someone to custom build me a boult action SBR 338 federal

Hey folks - just received mine this last week and you know what ... very, very nice! I only have 5 other lever guns, two of which are just 22's and the other three of which are 92's. I know it's not the optimal comparison but this new chiappa is the most solid feeling and just about as smooth to cycle as the Miroku Winchester I have. I'll be able to compare it more appropriately when my shot show Winchester 1886 deluxe comes in. But for now, I'm very impressed. If there's interest I'll post some shooting impressions in a few days.

I'd like a range report too, shooting videos would be great as well. :)

One possible advantage of the takedown feature I see is that this gun could be carried in a pack taken down in areas where firearms must be encased. Here in Alberta there are parks and wilderness areas that firearms aren't banned but must be in a case. This gun taken down in a case/pocket/pouch on the outside of a pack would be very comforting in my opinion.

If I had the coin I would be all over this rifle.

A good report is sometimes the only thing i need to get going... JP.
:agree:
If they come up with a version with a 16" barrel so I can take it to the USA when I go hunting there that is $800 cheaper I'm getting one.
And I want to see how the new stainless finish stands up to the elements.
I already have a Chiappa Mare's Leg take down in 44 Mag and am very happy with the materials (great wood), workmanship, fit/finish and functionality.

Great work guys bringing new stuff to our market, can't speak for others but something like this would almost make me drop the coin!!!

I wonder how hard it would be for Chiappa to machine some integral mounts on one of their Octagon barrels similar to what Grizzly Custom does on their 39 makeovers.
Still curious if the initial takedown that started this thread is drilled and tapped on the barrel as it appears in the photos? Is a rail availlable? I assume it would be have been mentioned if the rail was included in the purchase price.

Any word on if this will be the first and only run of these? Funds are WAY too tight right now but this gun would be perfect for use at work in remote locations and when out in the bush.
