New rifle for NSCC.

If you already have the rifle, shoot it. If you don't, look at the descriptions of the rifles being used by Longshot and kombayotch. These gentlemen are both extremely effective competitors. You do need a sight which can be reliably, repeatably and quickly set for the different ranges. Don't know what sort of 1-4 you have.
Work on your position shooting. Get as much range time as you can. Don't know where you are, but if you are anywhere near Central Ontario, and plan on competing in NSCC, have a look at www.osacanada.ca.

Finally got out to shoot this bad boy in a practice. Spent the whole weekend shooting kneeling sitting and standing. I must say it took me some time to get used to the balance especially in the sitting. I think I've got her figured out now. I been thinking about stepping from the army side and shooting it in open class. I'm going to shoot or try to shoot in the 580s for the classic 1-12. Should be interesting!

I decided to shoot her at the bcra afterall. Took myself out of the military category to shoot in open to be fair to the rest of the army guys. Break worked like a charm. Still need a bit of practice in the sitting with it as I had two misses both in the sitting position. Still trying to figure out the balance. My overall V count was way higher than I've ever shot before so I feel that it has given me a few points/Vs over what I could manage with a C7 and issue ammo. A couple of times I had shots that I thought caught paper and when I got to the targets sure enough there they were. With a C7 and issue ammo I'm not sure they would have caught paper. Bit of a crap shoot.
Overall I think it's going to work well for NSCC. Now I just have to figure out what to do with optics.

Had the occasion to try my new Leupold Mk. IV 2 1/2 - 8 during the OSA moving targets practice weekend. Very nice scope. Fired 50 back to 300m.

Its a mildot. At the very center, where the lines would cross, there is a tiny gap. Allows for very fine aim as necessary.

As far as balance goes, Keith C. is now shooting his new left handed Stag. One of the first things he did was to shorten and turn down the barrel, to achieve the handling characteristics that he prefers. (20" barrel). Rifle/Keith shoots like a house on fire.

Yeah, you clearly need to upgrade the optics for NSCC, 'cause that 50.10 really won't cut it at the national level :p

Haha well I could run it but it has some drawbacks as well. Fibua match at the 25 I saved 3 shots because of too much magnification. Couldn't find the target quick enough. That mark 4 sounds pretty interesting!

I'm running the Mark 4 MR/T 2.5-8x36mm (30mm) M2 on my Tac 700. I like it very much.

At NSCC run two different uppers if you feel jammed up inside 100, the rules and past practice allow it.

For the record the 2.5 to 8x Leupold's are really 3 to 9x they just call them 2.5 to 8x so not to confuse them with the older tactical 3 to 9x they used to make.
