New rimfire 22LR rifle for Canada TM22

Cool!, but also "Scary" looking.
I have enough paperweights as it is

In fact, I am pretty worried that the proliferation of semi auto rimfires that have the "appearance" of AR's is gonna cost me my 10/22s

If your 10/22 gets banned, it's not because of other semi auto rimfires being available. It's because the current gov is going against ALL guns. No one is safe, not even Airsoft so please don't insinuate that because of semi auto tactical guns, all wood guns are going to get banned.

Would you rather we stop importing cool guns and hope the gov doesn't ban what we already have?

Should we stop importation of the Bren 2 MS because it might make them think about banning some more black guns?

Turkey makes good firearms. Though not applicable to all makes and models entering to our market, we might as well as wait, see and get our hands into this new toy. Winchester Wildcat, also a Rimfire is made in Turkey. A lot of good reviews, though the aftermarket supply of upgrades kills the marketability. 10/22 still rules the world of Rimfire rifles.

They might make some however, overall I would take Norinco over anything coming out of turkey. I have shot a few of the recent shotguns to hit our market and they are utter trash IMO.

What's up with all the crying about the govt banning it because it looks tacticool? To this day they've never banned a .22 by legislation or OIC besides the Smith & Wesson M&P15-22, but that's just because it's an AR. You're all gonna be just fine if you drop a couple hundred bones on it. It's got a near zero percent chance of getting banned.

Decent looking gun and the price is not bad. I know it's not your fault but the proprietary mags at $65 each are a deal breaker for me. Weren't a 2 pack of the GSG-16 mags something like $60? $30-$35 each I can live with but when 22 LR mags are pushing $75 each all in that's too rich for my blood. Too bad there aren't some other cheaper mags around that would fit this gun, Remington 597 or something similar.

Anyway you got me for one of the Norinco Olympia pistols.;)

Except the government is also proposing a permanent 5 round limit to all firearms, regardless of class. Also, the blaze-47 has been banned for looking scary.

If the 5 round hard limit goes through, and pinning no longer applies, how's that 10 round 10/22 Rotary mag going to work?

There is nothing about 5rd magazines in Bill C-21. The only thing about magazines in C-21 is on altering cartridge magazine: "104.1 (1) Every person commits an offence who, without lawful excuse, alters a cartridge magazine that is not a prohibited device so that it becomes a prohibited device".
The other mentioning about magazines is in the planned OIC on the Public Safety website: "Update regulations on cartridge magazines" which is NOT part of C-21. What is going to be included in those regulations, nobody knows. Everything what people say on 5rd magazines is just speculation at this time. Having said that, if all come to the worst, the Ruger 10/22 is safe because there are 5rd magazines available from Ruger: h ttps://shopruger.com/22-LR-5-Round-Rotary-Magazine/productinfo/90041/. Personally, I don't think that the authorities would limit the magazine capacity of 22LR rifles to less than 10rds. They may/may not prohibit so-called "high capacity" magazines e,g, 25rds or so, who knows? Just speculation.

We understand, we were also surprised by the pricey magazines. The mags are well built out of steel which is nice but a cheaper mag would have been a better choice.

You can't legally shorten a barrel less then 18", so no go. But, you can have a barrel made if you find a smith that'll do one.
Maybe Dlask will spin some up like they did for GSG16 if there's enough demand.

Yes sorry I'm an idiot. Talking before thinking is my strength.

Ask them about making a synthetic version (or droppping the steel mag price substantially). With injection moulding technology these days it can't be that difficult to transition to plastic. My GSG-16 mags are all plastic except the spring and they are problem free. On one of the YouTube videos I watched the vast majority of the comments were the same; decent gun, fair price, mags were a deal breaker.

On the plus side it comes with $140 worth of magazines.... :)
Marstar, is the pictured magazine a 10 rounder? It looks pretty long....

A few more come to mind:

Mitchell M-16A/Car 15 Variants
Colt/Walther M4 22LR
Armi Jager AP74
Mossberg Blaze 47

There's probably more.

Actually I like the idea of steel magazines, it's a nice change. IF their durability reflects the increased cost!

Why do long 22 mags always look so goofy? Can really ruin the aesthetic. That new CZ is one of the worst offenders.

(this one isn't horrible, but that straight trigger caught my eye)
