New Ruger American Striker fired pistol

Decent price point....we sure won't get it for that....looks like a decent carry pistol for the states...

They are running out of things to call american. I also find it funny that the "american" ones are cheap plastic stocked. When I picture a proud american rifle I think something like a kimber or cooper or alike not some cheap plastic gun.

Good improvements to the SR 9, they got rid of the redundant safety, ambi slide release, and also improved the grip of the slide serration by moving the slide serrations back..... the long smooth and wide extractor on the SR 9 coupled with the heavy recoil spring makes the SR 9 hard to rack the slide for people with limited hand strength or under slippery conditions.

Not everyone can afford something like that...something that goes for 3-5x the price of this. Nor is everyone a serious shooter putting 1000s of rounds out of the gun a year who wants top of the line. Guns like this get more people into the fun sport/lifestyle and there is NOTHING wrong with that!!! :)

I'll be getting one. I really like the SR9, and wish this one did have the flagged loaded chamber indicator, would have been excellent if it came as double / single action striker.

Liked the SR9, hated that safety! If they can keep the grip circumference close to that of the SR9, it will be a nice pistol to shoot. The ambi mag release is sweet as well.

PS: the compact Ruger American Rifle is a sweet little bush gun at a reasonable price. Now if they only made a 358 Win version.........never should have sold my custom Rem 600 but this would be a decent replacement.

Back on topic, any dealers looking at bringing this up in the near future?

Plenty of room for a piece like this, especially if it holds up like most Rugers do. There aren't too many new service-level weapons.

...and to be honest, most are well overpriced. New G17s will run you close to 1k, though they are undoubtedly one of the 'best' handguns ever created. But here's the kicker, when people are asked why they won't get a Glock, it's usually because they think they feel like ####, and look like sin....and not the ###y kind.

Hopefully these are available and still affordable by the time my SR9 wears out.
Are they going to available in any other calibres?

It looks like the trigger is the same shape as the SR9 - what a terrible trigger! I would love to have the gun if it had a trigger like the P345 - a fairly wide, smooth trigger that the finger fits into - instead, they use a lever with sharp edges with another lever in it with more sharp edges - and there is no safe way to use a glove to soften the shape - the glove will get hung up on the end of the trigger and prevent firing. The trigger looks like something from a prehistoric matchlock.

It looks like it has a loaded-chamber indicator like other Rugers - they are the best indicators that I have seen on any gun.

The grip shape looks more grippable than the SR9 - those who think that the SR9 is good for small hands must have very long pinky fingers - the grip gets wider all the way down - so only the first two fingers really hold the grip - the last two fingers are little kids dancing with a fat girl.

The clip is different than the SR9 - I like the way Ruger clips can be slammed home securely - Why would decent guns like a Sig 220 require careful double-checking to make sure the clip is latched? Silly.

I don't see any place on the side of the frame to park my trigger finger that is easily identifiable with the tip of my finger. I like a memorable spot to park.

Sights look fine.

Yeah - good riddance to the safety.

The trigger blade looks wider then the SR 9.
It looks like the rails that the slide rails mate with are one piece of steel and longer then most polymer frames. The takedown is simpler then the SR9 as well and there is no magazine disconnect safety.
