I'll toss a few more at ya's
Remington is pushing the model 700 ADL this year as the "step up" from the 783.
In it's synthetic version with a 3-9 scope (remington branded, so nothing special) it is now the $675 Remington.
A 700 SPS is now a $900 rifle. Stainless SPS adds about another $150 to the price tag. And if you want the 700 Mountain Stainless you will need $1400 in the piggy bank.
From Savage the model 11 will tag in at about $850 in the Trophy Hunter configuration with the Lady Hunter at a bit over $1100. The plane jane model 10 is now a $900 rifle and the mod 10 BA Stealth is close to $1500. Of course if you add about another $125 to that you can pick up a brand new, hot off the press mod 10 FCP.
The Mod 16/116 synthetic trophy hunter is now a $950'ish dollar rifle.
From Ruger the M77 Hawkeye starts in the mid 1400 buck range followed by the Scout in the mid 1500 range and on to the Guide gun at about 1600 bucks.
Weatherby's Vanguard Select seems to have finally made it's way to Canada with a pricetag in the $775 range. The (regular) Vanguard synthetic is a little over $900 - packaged with a Redfield scope for $1250 or a Leupold VX1 for about $1300 (includes hard case and scope is mounted with Talley lightweights).
From Howa, this year they were pushing the 1500 Panamax (includes a 3-9 scope). Will tag at about 800'ish. Most of the other 1500 platforms - Ranchland, Hogue etc "start" around the $1100 mark and go north from there.
And that's your 2017 line-up for the "I want something a step up from an entry level rifle" choices
