They are now on Savage web page, $688 MSRP for the 116 Alaskan Brush Hunter available in 338 WIN and 375 RUGER 18" barrel!!! And $513 MSRP for the 11/111 Hog Hunter available in .223, .308 and .338 WIN 20" barrel.

I contacted P&D...I guess the threaded barrel is an issue for export (import?). Let's hope Savage modifies to allow export to Canada.

I just wish that Ruger would make their Alaskan in 338win, that would be perfect for what I want in a hunting rifle. These Savages look tempting due to being chambered in 338win.

18" and 20" barrels enough for 338 WIN?

From what I've heard 20" is good for the 338win, you loose a little but the rifle would still do what I'm looking for.

Yup, they contacted their distributor and had been given the answer that somewhere in the border confusion (Canada, I'm guessing) the threads are not allowed. That being said, I was in their store and handled and H&R with a threaded barrel. Dianne indicated that stuff does get through occasionally, their distributor can't bring in the Hog Hunter unless it is modified a wee bit.

The USA has an issue with exporting threaded barrels it seems. Makes them scary.

I hope the Alaskan Brush Hunter will come in something stout - 9.3x62, 350 Rem Mag - or maybe they will bring back the .425 Express. That would be sweet.
