And then the op was never heard from again.
No one said the OP was "making fun" of new shooters, he is simply stating his frustration here on the forum. Without mentioning names it is nothing but idle banter. To the OP's credit it is frustrating to see such stupidity. Lenses and simple physics/science would tell you that there is a focal length to the optic. With the list of other commonly used/experienced optics like binoculars and microscopes, it should be common knowledge that there is a sweet spot for your eye to be in relation to the ocular lens. If you mount the rifle and see the reticle while continuing to move your head closer then lose sight of the reticle(the black blob) it would only be a reasonable action to move your head back to where you could see it. Pressing your eye against the lens then proclaiming you can't "see sh*t" or "I think the scope is broken" is an ignorant and defeatest response.
As the mentor for a new shooter some instruction is definitely required and discussing the basics to scopes is one of them. That being said, as a new shooter there is also some appropriate etiquette, and pretending to know what you're doing is not part of it. If you don't know(which as a new shooter you likely don't) ask questions and don't assume... It is frustrating to take a new shooter out only for them to act and proclaim they know what they're doing.

Doesn't it piss you off when you see someone who never shot a firearm before try to look through a scope? They'll put there eye right up to the scope and complain that the can't see anything lol.

Just scream at them like a drill sergeant and then smack them on the back of the head for being so stupid . They will understand you are the supreme authority on guns and how dumb they really are in a matter of seconds .
There is nothing more frustrating than whatever the OP was talking aboot. It it totally like, "my life is over". Probably.
What are you on aboot? This is not aboot diplomacy, this is aboot dignity! This is aboot respect! There is nothing more frustrating then when you misspell about.
