hey guys im looking at buying a new shotgun. i hunt mostly waterfowl and small game. At the moment i am looking into an 1187. what i am looking for in a shotgun is a semi auto, camo, 3"-3.5", prefer the 3.5". what are some pros and cons of the 1187? What other shotguns should i be looking at? no more than $1200
please let me know what you think

The new 11-87's are garbage; the older 11-87 Special Purpose and Premier were/are really good guns...

You should be able to get a good used 11-87 Special Purpose Super Magnum for $600-700.

this is awsome! i need this exact question answered myself, so someone please put up some good reviews on semi auto shotties! I've been thinking of going the stoeger route, but im not 100% sure they're the best semi for under a grand, which is what I want.

...To add to this, I'm torn between the ergonomic joy of a pistol grip (and no its not just for the tacticool look, i genuinly do like the feel of pistol grips) or the class and general niceness of a classy wood stock... opinions?

There seem to be a few good deals around on Franchi I12 shotguns...I think that Franchi is bringing out a new model and selling out the old. Outstanding guns, very clean-shooting and reliable. Inertial operation, 3-inch shells maximum. My favourite shotguns.

Baikal MP 153. I own one and it is great. I also owned an 1187 SP it was a good gun too. BUT it couldn't shoot 3.5 cartridges and it cost more than 500.00 The Baikal does shoot 3.5 shells and is available for around 500.00 if you look. (maybe used) I found the MP 153 handles alot like the 1100 1187 line.

This is what im looking for, I am looking for inexpensive semi that can be made reliable. I can polish and smooth the internals if need be, or used is fine.

I am thinking 3.5" because of the mag capacity loophole (where you can fit 5 3.5" shells, in the tube, or 6 to 7 2 3/4 shells) <<----- I think this holds true?

Doest the 1100 handle 3.5"?
If you pick up an older used remington (before they sucked), is the 1100 or 1187 the way to go?
What is the magazine capacity on the baikal?
