New Sierra Bullet pricing.....Wholly Crap!

I contacted Hornady due to the bullets I bought "168g match 30 cal" about the jacket being all messed up and here is the reply

"Mr. #######,
Thank you for supplying the picture, that helped clear things up. That is certainly an anomaly. It appears it hit something harder than simply another bullet to cause such an aggressive gouge. This has been forwarded on to our QC and packaging departments. Because you are an international customer I cannot send you complimentary bullets for your trouble, as we cannot send any reloading components over the border. Would a Hornady cap be sufficient compensation? If so, let us know and we can get it on the way for you! Thanks again,"

Really? A hat? How about some bullets.......
How do they get there bullets up here normally? They are in stores here.

I seems like a reasonable price to me, especially for 100 bullets. I just purchased a box of Nosler Partition, 270 130 grain at a price of $52.00 for a 50 count............so what are you complaining about?

Partitions have been a buck a pop for a while now already which makes them more expensive than barnes and gmx which is stupid Imo. they are however premium bullets so it's not valid to say $55 bucks for sierras is not a big deal. Matrix, berger and hornady bthp all cost less and are made far more precisely Than 150gr sierras for plinking or deer. Might be time to find a new bullet OP.

I've gotten hundreds of free bullets from hornady for buying their reloading gear. Unless something had changed very recenty, they have always been able to send bullets to Canadians.

That price is expected from a partition. That's why I don't buy them. Got to pay for all those fancy nosler commercials you know. When they are 70$ for 50 you might think the way I do. I only started reloading 8 years ago and I could buy the same for 30-35$ per 100. I think all these excuses to raise prices on everything is crap. Gas prices high, transportation cost go up. Gas prices low everything stays the same. Raw metals prices, demand, ect. Seems these are excuses for raising prices but there never seems to be a reason for prices to go down. I worked in an auto parts manufacturing facility and the company pretty much folded due to having to cut prices to keep people working. These big companies nickel and dime suppliers and raise prices on there product all the while cost of their products is at an all time low. Not everyone can just sell 20 grand in firearms like yourself Track. Some people have budgets.

How is complaining on social media going to help your cause if your on a budget?

I was actually looking to see if prices were consistent everywhere or if LGS was gouging. I'll start a new thread just for you. "Sierra bullets just jumped 20%, what a great deal since they are still cheaper than partitions". I think its feasible to complain about it, but your right it won't matter.

In the big world, I guess you will have to cope with price increases, I've seen it for 58 years. I've been reloading for 33 years and never complained once about the increase in price...... I went on my merry way and was happy as a lark. Sometimes a person has to look beyond sporting good stores and try local gun shows. Case in point, in Lethbridge, Alberta last weekend I purchased a old black and red Nosler box of spitzer boat tails of 100 for $32.00. The box was never opened, and when I did, they were shinny bright and brand new looking.....great deal.....hoping that my 270 Weatherby likes them.
Hope that you can grasp my message.

i'd agree with Honady's response that that purchase must've been an anomaly.
they normally are just-as-good-if-not-better than SMK's, at 5 to 10 bucks less per box.
not sure why Hornady's aren't the go to bullet choice, for the price, for most reloaders.
...vote with your wallet.

I find it convenient that it took forever for SOME things to equalize with the dollar going up, but things very quickly rise in price. Coincidence? Nope.

For sure. I have noticed this with just about everything that comes from the states. There are some retailer's that have priced stuff way above just making up the differeece in the dollar. Some businesses use the excuss of the dollar to over inflate their prices. I think these days you have to know what exactly is an honest price before you buy.

Guys you need to seriously look at other shops...I find Cabelas the worst offender for high priced goods. For example 50 gr VMAX are $29.99, Prairie Guntraders has them for $23.99 or you can buy a 250 pack from PGT and save even more...shop around and realize our dollar is terrible and is gonna get worse thus supplies are gonna skyrocket. Start buying large quanties now where you can find then at pre 2015 dollar.

Cheers!!

Everything is up. I am in the RV industry. 90% of the rv's in Canada are produced in the USA. We are seeing 12-20% increase on the same model. Our used units are flying out the door. Might be a tough sales year but why can you do. Service will be good. More people fixing instead of replacing. Should have good yankey traffic this summer.

I'm in the same industry, friend. We're already desperately low on pre-owned units now and what we have now won't last long coming into the season.

You don't happen to work at a store in Abbotsford named after a river, do you? lol
