Hi everyone. I bought my wife a Sig for Xmas and need some feedback from owners. I have watched tons of vids on this gun, some hate it, some love it. Are there really any big issues, any fixes, ammo issues ? Any info would be greatly appreciated, and Happy New Year !!

They seem hit and miss. The one I had jammed quite a bit when it started to get dirty. Normally when I go to the range with a 22lr i shoot a brick and clean after every range trip. IMO it should go through a brick without any problems. They recommend breaking it in with minimags, it's something I did.

She used it a couple times and sat and collected dust in favour of a G17.

Sold it and didt lose to much money but If I could do it over I would have went straight to the G17 with her.

My advice would be sell it and buy a different .22.....

Sell it and try your wife on a Ruger Mk 1, 2, or 3. If she has small hands, a Beretta Neos might work.

Avoid the Walther P22 like the plague.
Avoid the Chiappa 1911-22 like Ebola.

They fit smaller hands well, are light, controls are in all the right places and they are accurate...can be very nice if you polish the feed ramps and will feed good quality ammo like Blazer, CCI standard and Mini Mags. I bought one for my daughter but she ended up not liking pistols.
Haters are gonna hate hate hate hate hate.........

I did some minor work on mine to make it more reliable. The feed ramp needs a little polish job and the breach needs to be opened a little. Mine works great now. It does seem a little cheaply built but it was cheap to buy so I didn't care. It's a decent gun for plinking and teaching new shooters. PM me for details if you need.

Could you elaborate? I've got a p226 with a 22lr conversion, that likes to fail to feed more then anything else (jams the round at an odd angle and deforms the bullet). Pics would be great!

My wife's favorite feeling handgun is the Ruger SR22, but the barrel is only 3.5 ", so no go. I have an old Buckmark, but she doesn't like the feel. So at this point, the Sig stays ! Every gun has its issues, so I don't mind putting in the time to make it the best it can be.

You will need a dremel or similar rotary tool, a cone-shaped polishing tip, a cylindrical polishing tip and some polishing compound ( I use green for my strops and gun stuff ).

The feed ramp comes from the factory looking like ####, rounds don't run up it smoothly. Use a cylindrical polishing tip with a small amount of polish to smooth out the ramp. Do not remove much material, just get it smooth. At the top of the ramp, there's a lip where it meets the breach / chamber, that needs to be taken down a little so that rounds don't get hung-up on it. I used a cone-shaped polishing tip and compound to smooth out the lip. While I was doing that, I used the same tip to open the breach slightly. Mine was also out of round so cheaper ammo would get stuck. Since doing these easy mods, my gun runs great. It has fired every type of ammo I put through it. I still prefer CCI Minimags because they seem to be more consistant and of higher quality.
I will take some pics and post them asap.

Great pics, thank you very much ! The more I read the more your fix comes into play. It seems to be the largest area of concern that gets fixed by your methods. I recently watched a video from Buds Gun Shop, in the US, on the Sig. He states to break the gun in by using CCI Mini mags then you can use just about any ammo. Other people say the same thing and yet others say you can only use the Mini mags. I think proper break-in and your fixes would go a long way.
