I see that TopGunSupply (in the U.S., the place that always seems to be on the cutting edge of everything new from SIG) is now listing two different kinds of SIG P220's... chambered in.... .22LR... WOW!
in DA/SA:
http://www.topgunsupply.com/sig-sau...justable-sights-da-sa-converts-to-.45acp.html
and in SAO: (note that this one has a beavertail as well... plus the 1911-style safety of course)
http://www.topgunsupply.com/sig-sau...adjustable-sights-sao-converts-to-.45acp.html
And you get a coupon to buy a .45 auto slide/barrel assembly (in the U.S. anyway, not sure how easy that will be to pull off for Canadian customers).
It is obviously just the conversion kit being mated up to 220 frames in the factory... but... so what.
Can some of you distributors/retailers check into whether you can get these please? I think it is a "neat" idea. I've been thinking about getting the 106mm P229 conversion kit when it becomes available... but maybe a stand-alone 220 in .22LR is a better idea??? It looks like it will be more than a Mosquito, but less than any other new SIG - and it should put a Mosquito to shame... trigger, feel, handling, and looks.
How many other guys would be interested in one of these?
Edit: if you look at this page, the 220 conversion mags look quite a bit different than the 226 mags. Also... I suppose we can deduce from this that... the 226 kits shipped out first... now the 220 kits (and guns have shipped)... and the 229 kits will be last (and probably Canadian barrelled 229 last of all... I'm not sure how much longer I want to wait to try one of these SIG conversions. I keep wanting to order the 226 kit... and then I think, "That is dumb... you only have 229 and 239... you'll have to buy a whole other gun to put it on." Hence my interest in this 220 .22LR complete gun).

Another thing... not worth starting a new thread on but.... DROOL!! An all steel 229! Damn, I hope we can get these as well.

Just in case anyone is wondering... the "Stainless Elites" are just stainless slides with alloy frames finisshed to look sort of like stainless. This is hard to see on the official SIG website, but TopGunSupply takes all their own pictures, and you can definiately see the difference between slide and frame on the elite models in these pics.
