New sks folding stock

I honestly don’t mind the look of that whole setup, I usually find plastic sks stocks to be pretty ugly looking. The fake wood grain is meh but the folder is a nice touch, hopefully it doesn’t weigh a ton. Not bad though.

I like the adjustable stock of my Tapco, but a folder would be nice. RE the weight, my Tapco stock seemed a tiny bit heavier than my 'new'(1980) French Tickler Wood stock (w/o the handguard-so I'm lazy). So, I just now weighed them and found only 2-oz :
Tapco = 0.86-kg / 1#14.4-oz with my Wheeler digital T-gage
Chinese Wood = 0.81-kg / 1#12.4-oz with Wheeler

I have a near identical red dot setup on my SKS and IMO that is the only way to go. Those rear cover setups are ### crap.

Any ideas what that magazine setup is that he has on that rifle?

Can someone explain or link over how the reddot gos on the rear sight? Do you need to remove something and/or add something for the reddot to mount?

What red dot setup is that?
Badace mount as below. Currently I have an inexpensive Vector Optics micro red dot but that is gonna get swapped out for a Holosun 507c. The 507 is more durable and has auto off / shake awake and a 50,000 hr battery life. Laughably, the Holosun is worth more than the rifle it will be mounted to.

Badace Tactical rear sight mount

Yes the rear sight has to be removed for the pic rail to fit in its place. Its pretty simple to install and surprisingly solid.

IMO the less an SKS is modified, the better. The rear sight mounted micro red dot is pretty minimal yet is extremely functional. You just align with the sights as normal and the red dot appears.

So does that thing just fit into the OEM stock and not require a bottom metal or other magazine attachment? The mag and attachment / release is all part of the magazine itself?
Yep it fits as is and is all one unit. I only have one of them so can't comment on consistancy of quality. I bought one just to try it out. It works well in my Russians. Makes one hand mag changes easier. Better than other duck bill mags I guess. I seem to always go back to the factory mag and stripper clips though.
I sold my Chinese so can't comment on the fit in those but they should fit. Hell, I have a Chicom factory mag in a badly bubba'd Tula.

Maybe someone else with more experience with them will comment.

I, I , I just...I like shooting a full stocked SKS. It's already a carbine, I just don't see the purpose of giving up a proper cheek weld, to gain a folding stock?
If HALO jumping out of a plane, or having to be packed into a Haitian "tap-tap" like a clown car with 50 other swinging Richards, maybe a folding stock makes sense? But generally, you're just making a worse SKS in my opinion.

There is a slight cool factor, if they're cheap enough it might interest me. Particularly if the stock SKS's were still $200.00. Then if the folding stock came in at under $300...a folding SKS for $500 is conceivable for a "just 'cause" gun. However these day's I've seen Russian SKS's north of $600!? It makes this project into a $1K SKS, which is just dumb in my opinion.

Same. My SKS sits out at the farm and is used for bear defence. I have a Tapco mag but noticed it wants to nose-in the first round when the bolt is racked and any unreliability in a bear defence gun is no bueno. The OEM mag just works.

That can be said for the majority of SKS accessories.
