While on it's face that sounds reasonable, to get it here and on your gun, it'll be over $400.00 Cnd. Thank the sock prince muppet for nuking our dollar.Availability January 2025. Price on their website says $250 American, shipping $30 to Canada. They say that they have a distributor as well.
The fellow in the video says the final version will be American walnut. Looks good, definitely Ruger Mini-14 inspired.I honestly don’t mind the look of that whole setup, I usually find plastic sks stocks to be pretty ugly looking. The fake wood grain is meh but the folder is a nice touch, hopefully it doesn’t weigh a ton. Not bad though.
I have a red dot and mount that is worth close to double what my SKSis worth and is triple what I paid for the rifle.wow. C$400 to my door. almost the price of a used SKS i will be putting it in.
not the same bcos the red dot isnt made specifically for a sks.I have a red dot and mount that is worth close to double what my SKSis worth and is triple what I paid for the rifle.
VIdeo has a link. He is taking pre orders. Said he will have a Canadian distributor as well and ship direct from USdoubt they'd let us have one.
Why is 1k sks dumb? It would cost double that to make it new.I, I , I just...I like shooting a full stocked SKS. It's already a carbine, I just don't see the purpose of giving up a proper cheek weld, to gain a folding stock?
If HALO jumping out of a plane, or having to be packed into a Haitian "tap-tap" like a clown car with 50 other swinging Richards, maybe a folding stock makes sense? But generally, you're just making a worse SKS in my opinion.
There is a slight cool factor, if they're cheap enough it might interest me. Particularly if the stock SKS's were still $200.00. Then if the folding stock came in at under $300...a folding SKS for $500 is conceivable for a "just 'cause" gun. However these day's I've seen Russian SKS's north of $600!? It makes this project into a $1K SKS, which is just dumb in my opinion.
I suppose the tanked dollar has to be factored in but as a stock maker (on hiatus) I think it's reasonable for what it is.While on it's face that sounds reasonable, to get it here and on your gun, it'll be over $400.00 Cnd. Thank the sock prince muppet for nuking our dollar.![]()
You have a good point. My Chinese SKS was purchased from Marstar as a deal- Buy a M305 for $500 and you could get an unissued SKS for an extra $75! I went for the deal and still have both. I can't use the M305 and the SKS is still unfired. This folding stock might be worth while.I suppose the tanked dollar has to be factored in but as a stock maker (on hiatus) I think it's reasonable for what it is.
I pondered jumping into the sks rifle stock market after the M14 rifle got banned and my ability to market those ended just as retailers were becoming interested...... but producing a stock for a "cheap" rifle requires the stock to be in the "cheap" realm too. I decided some time ago to leave the sks stocks to those who could produce them "cheaply". That said, when it comes to the M14 type rifles, there was no end to the amount guys would spend to have those norinco rifles dressed up in gucci stocks like JAE, McMillan, Sage and my stocks that were in the 500 dollar ballpark among others in the market for that much and more. So 400 landed for a good composite SKS side folder might just be right up someone's alley. This looks like a decent enough design and maintains nice functionality and esthetics. I suppose if it is rugged enough and has no stress points it might be a good buy.
