New Tavor looking like a demo rifle

OK new update. Ryan from SFRC called and told me I could return it. He also offered a $500 discount. I declined and will be shipping it back.

He also said that he checked his stock and they were dirty like whoever handled them had greasy hands. I appreciate the call and apology however I will buy locally.

Just to confirm, I will not be taking this issue further, I am satisfied with the return.

When I pick mine up here in Calgary I will update this thread with a description of the condition of the rifle I buy.
 
I just purchased a Tavor from SFRC ( 2 weeks ago) and mine was really dirty as well but saw the identical rifle at Prairie Guntraders and it too looked dirty, I think this must be the case with alot of tan Tavors...not that I really care because mine shoots 60 gr. VMAX bullets into great groups at 100 yards. 3x a better shooter then my XCR keymod. Other then that my screws all looked fine...gun functions flawlessly.
$500 is a fair discount but then again a $2600 rifle should have been gone through by the seller prior to shipping to ensure customer happiness...now he has this black eye. If this truly was his demo model thats not cool. In my transaction his pricing was great, shipping was free but the lady who answered my call about a question on the rifle was less then friendly...if I'm dropping any money in your store I expect people to be pleasant on the phone.
Thanks for posting this...gives everyone some room for thought prior to buying pricey toys online.

If you purchased to put on a shelf then sure, send it back. If you picked it up to shoot it. Take into bush, run and gun, use in anyway.... It will get dirty and maybe even a safe kiss... scary things for a rifle proven in battlefields to have to be put through. Screws get loose. Carry a multi tool... If you don't ever need to remove that screw, loktite. Problem solved... Even a mid loktite on ones you do plan on taking out cant hurt and will help. Id say take apart, clean. Anything broken or damaged. Send back. It could be a display model... Just look at the parts that move/slide if they have wear and arnt that nice pristine black... Maybe a bit of wearing to silver or something then yes its been used as display (people workin action) or shot.

100% would ask for new screws though.

I had the exact same issue with a Colt I bought from IRG. They refused to issue me a full refund, stating that I would be charged a "Re-Stocking" and an "Open Box" fee, somewhere to the tune of 20%...

I'm happy to hear that Ryan stepped up and took care of this. +1 for SFRC.

no they do not, you will however have to go to court though if you make a false claim.

I tried to cancel my order with IRG because of a mistake in their listing (wrong caliber listed for the rifle) they refused saying the paperwork was already started so I ended up selling at a loss privately.

Customer service is key in todays retail world to get repeat customers.
 
I bought a tan Tavor from SFRC couple months ago and mine was really dirty too.
Not only greasy finger prints on the rifle but also dirty gas piston, bolt and barrel. There was very minor scraches on the top rail and painted over with a sharpie.
I called SFRC to ask if it was used and refurbished but they said "we shipped it as we received it from the distributor" and it is "brand spanking new".
i was little disappointed and upset after paying that much money for a brand new rifle and thinking that it might be used and refurbished! but I just assumed that it did not get cleaned very detailed after test firing at the factory and minor scratches just got touched up. I cleaned the rifle and oiled it myself (I believe everybody should clean and oil a brand new firearm before firing the first time). After taking the rifle to the range and firing a few rounds I totally forgot about the whole disappointment :) I took it back home and cleaned it again.
Rifle functions well and no malfunctions so far, I am really happy with it!
 
We offered him the discount and replacement screws....he wanted a refund so that is what we are doing.

On another note, all the Tavors come out of the same large crates when they are imported....the importer puts them in the cases they come in. All the Tavors have some grease etc on them...the black ones as well...you just can't see it on the black.

On another note, we replied to the OP that we would check on it 39 minutes after he emailed us (the evening of the 30th) and then emailed him at about 6am on the 2nd with an update followed by a phone call with a solution on the 2nd (today).
