As we've said before, we can't update with news we don't have...
With regards of production there seems to be a widespread understanding for some reason that our order will take months and months to complete, when in fact with a factory of this size it would only take a week or two. In fact most modern arms factories, even small ones can output large numbers in a short period of time. Most of the waiting for any order, regardless of manufacturer is scheduling of production. There is downtime when production lines are switched from one model to another. Time is money which is why different models are batched together to reduce the number of production line changeovers and downtime. In our case the T81 production line had not been set-up yet and an additional significant military order came in, so they kept on going.
We know that many don't want to hear this, but we are lucky to be getting the T81's in the first place. On the grand scale of things Canada is a ridiculously small market that demands significant time and resources for approval and production of guns like these, not to mention 3-4 year waiting periods that may or may not prove successful. There are a number of other cases and opportunities for Canada that don't happen because it is simply too much to ask of manufacturers. The PPS-43 for example, needs some revisions and it is quite a challenge convincing the manufacturer to make some changes for our market. We're not sure if they will do them. Pioneer Arms is significantly smaller than EMEI. Nothing personal against Canadians, it's just business and that means dedicating precious time/resources to projects that will yield the most profit.
We hate pre-orders more than you guys, believe us. Dealing with loads of angry people, being called lairs and our reputation damaged, time spent processing and bookkeeping refunds, not ideal. But it is the only way we could ensure that anyone that wants a gun will get one. The other option was smaller orders, panic buying and longer lead times which we didn't want to do. As we have mentioned, you are free to cancel your order with no penalty and no questions asked, but it is the support of ongoing orders that allows us to pursue other opportunities such as these, and possibly convince the manufacturer to produce variants such as the underfolder, LMG, and 5.45x39 versions.
