New to Milsurp couple questions.

I just acquired these and was going to sell but I’m becoming fond of then and think I’d rather use them. Let me know if I’m correct but the Carl Gustav 1906 is a m96 in 6.5x55? And the other is a true Jungle Carbine.

You are right, the Carl Gustav is a M96 Swedish Mauser in 6.5 X 55. caliber Nice couple of rifles. I would definitely hang on to them and shoot them. Both 6.5.X 55 and .303 cartridges are readily available and reloadable. I my Jungle Carbine, I shoot reloads that are quite mild and very enjoyable to shoot. Full power loads/cartridges are a little hard on the shoulder.

Incidentally, the term "Jungle Carbine" was created by a US dealer, Golden State Arms, many years ago. Thought it had more market potential than Rifle, No. 5 Mk. I.

If it was me, I'd hang onto & shoot that M96, for sure!

In my experience the Swedish service rifles are very accurate and soft recoiling to boot.

I’d keep them both. A good start to military surplus addiction. I have both and they shoot well.
I can remember Lee Enfields going for $19.95 and if you bought 3 they dropped $10 off. Pretty sure that was Century arms.

Mayer a dumb question but are .308 bullets any good for reloading these 303’s? Or is that a waste of supplies? Is it best to find some 311-312? If so what do you use?

Buy a box of 6.5x55 and shoot the M96.
I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprise and fall in love with it.

Keep them!
I have no experience with the Carl Gustav, but you can load the No. 5 Mk1 with soviet 7.62 X 39 bullets and a reduced powder load. I haven't perfected a load yet, but the initial results are good and the recoil is very light.

.311 bullets for the .303 british for sure. Supply was spotty for awhile but getting better, I think.

Mayer a dumb question but are .308 bullets any good for reloading these 303’s? Or is that a waste of supplies? Is it best to find some 311-312? If so what do you use?

Funny you should mention this. I think it depends on the bore dimension, which is not always the same in the No 4 or No 5. In my No4Mk1, I can load .308 bullets and get the same accuracy as .311 bullets. I've never tried it my No5 though. The only thing is that when you size the case, I resize once using a Lee neck sizing die to decap and then another sizing using a full size die (set to neck size only) with the decapping pin and neck expander removed. This sizes the neck down enough to hold the .308 bullet. It's worth a try and if it works, you can use more readily available .308 bullets. Also, I've found that 150gr bullets work just fine in the 303. They give a little less recoil that the usual 174gr bullets. You can even go down the 125gr bullets if you want.

Yeah, and Mosin Nagants were $50.00. Heck it wasn't that long ago SKS's were $99.00.

It's a waste of ammo in my opinion. It would be a rare case where accuracy did not suffer and with the bullet being "loose' in the bore, gases would be pushing past the bullet accelerating bore wear.

Maybe I’ll try some 123gr .310’s I have for my cz527?

Considering there is many many guys out there that reload 308 bullets in 303 and swear by them . It's also impossible the change their mind I tried gave up.

Nice No5.. I bought one in 2005 for 200$. Well that Rubber, if you could call it Rubber butt stock was hard as a rock and it brused me alot. It was known as my ouch gun.
