Right now I am shooting a Rem. 3200 Trap with a 30" barrel set. I love the gun but I prefer 32" barrels. If I cannot find a 32" barrel set, I will trade it for something new. I would like to keep the price at $3500 minus trade (3200 is mint) But what do I buy? I don't like Citori's and Beretta's never seem to fit me well. I am one of the few that like the Cynergy but have heard there have been some problems with them. The Fabarms look nice but I have no dealer where I can actually see one. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Well if you like the 3200, try to find a minty K32 for trade. You may have better luck finding the barrels you are looking for.

You may be happy with a new Winchester Select Energy all dressed up for that price range as well. There are a few of them around here now, and the guys seem to like them. To put it into perspective, they had previously shot Ljutic singles, 101 doubles, and BT's. So they know what a decent trap gun should shoot like.

Try them all. If it does not fit, make it fit.

I did a search on the Win. Select Energy you mentioned. Is it made by Browning? Frankly IMHO it looks cheap.

I do not know if cheap is the right description? That checkering design is enough to gag a maggot, but mechanically it seems really sound and I think that it has nice weight and balance. I would not rule one out til I had one in my hands.

win/64! You of all people! I thought you would like this win/browning? Not Japan made! I think it is made in some obsure factory in Belgium? Lege? FN or something like that?

Just because you can use the Quote tags now doesn't mean you have to answer every post. :)

If the 3200 is working for you then don't sweat the 30" barrels. Otherwise I'd second bufalobill's recommendation of a used Krieghoff K32. I shot trap with one for several years, liked the gun and only sold it when I lost interest in trap.

If the Brownings and Berettas don't work for you then a Guerini trap model might fall within your budget.

If you don't mind me asking, what would you consider to be a good trade amount for your 3200? If you do mind, tell me where to go.....

I took "minus trade" to mean the value of the 3200.

Hey CB what are your feelings on the Cynergy? I noticed on the Browning site they have changed the Trap model to a more conventional recoil pad. http://

I don't have strong feelings either way about the Cynergy and was put off a bit by the recoil pad and stock design of the original design. I find like most Brownings they don't fit me that well.

As for the Cynergy Trap, I picked up one today in a local gun store to look at. Everyone's tastes are different and I like a lighter barreled more neutrally balanced gun so I thought the Cynergy Trap was a bit of a beast. It's very heavy with a lot of forward weight but then Browning trap guns usually are and there is a valid argument for a heavy, forward balanced gun to shoot trap. trap At the very least, the weight, thick pad and porting would all combine to make it a very soft shooting gun.
