New Trudeau Blair rules on shotguns

No. We are excited that this OIC is so poorly written that it might get thrown out entirely, and the fact that it may also include shotguns means that far more people are having their stuff banned than before, which means more support to try and get this ban overturned.

I don't think anyone is planning to turn in their shotguns.

This is true.

No they won't, Bill Blair already tweeted clarification that 12 and 10's are not banned besides which, my shotguns mostly all have the bore marked by the manufacturer on the barrels. The 12's are anywhere from 18.4 to 18.7 bores so that's under 20 mm.

Be sure to take that tweet to court and let us know how things turn out.

Well they are gunnutz to and i always give chance to the runner,

Now they are full patch partners with their prohibited shotgun.
Welcome to the fight.

I can’t believe how many of you quote Blair’s tweet as if it means anything.
The OIC is made! NOTHING Bliar tweets can change anything to that.
Now most people don’t actually believe 12ga won’t be allowed, but it is possible that the law is accidentally making them illegal right now, and that fact has to be spread to as big an audience as possible to make political points.

My barrel on my Winchester SX3 measures 18.2 mm with the choke....exactly how it was made to be fired. If some of you guys wanna hand in your 12 gauges .....go ahead. Its like some of you guys are excited and are are looking for more guns to ban.

The kind of clueless post you’d expect from a follower of Jordan Memerson

Measured my Fausti Conrad o/u and my old Winchester 1300 and all three barrels are 20.5 with chokes removed. Sent an email to Blair and my MP asking how they will change the OIC. Not expecting an answer

It’s a sad day to see all this banter between us over a technicality that they will surely rectify and not banded together to keep them down while we light them all on fire with unity and a common goal

Refer to the Wikipedia 12ga =18.5mm, if you taking mesurements at the muzzel it is 18.5 without choke, so it IS below 20mm

I measured a bunch of my shotguns and the closest I can get is 19.23 mm from my MX8 with the choke removed. Nothing with fixed chokes that I have comes close. I don't own any Brownings though and my Winchester 1897 is fine. Every gun I have seems to be different.

I've been far too busy with work to participate in the thread today but a hole in the muzzle of a shogun that a choke tube threads into is not bore diameter and no 12 gauge barrels are 20 mm or larger. It's been well proven in tests that plastic wads begin to have trouble sealing in a 12 gauge barrel larger than 19 mm's and no manufacturers make barrels bigger than 18.9 mm unless it's special order. A lot of you seem to think that you have barrels with a larger bore than that but you don't.
I'm off to bed to start another long day tomorrow, have fun!

The shell it self 20.5mm, breech is 20.5.
Any gun barrel at the breech is bigger than at the muzzel.

The bore of a shotgun is not the largest diameter of the inside of a choke tube recess.

The bore of a shotgun starts at the smallest internal diameter in front of the end of the chamber, where the forcing cone tapers from the chamber diameter to the bore diameter. The bore continues on until it encounters the choke area where the bore ends and the choke takes over.

The standard bore diameter for a 12 gauge is .729. This may vary slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer and manufacturing tolerances. I have measured some 12 gauge bores as large as .733".

20 mm is .788". No 12 gauge bores come close to that figure.

I don't understand why anyone would measure the inside of a choke tube recess to determine bore diameter, it is not the bore of the shotgun.

It seems the only fight it has dragged them into is to argue that tweets are law, the RCMP can be trusted, and the minster is on their side.

Shawn

They must have been exposed to lead shot for too long if they truly believe all that!
