New Trudeau Blair rules on shotguns

There seem's to be the Fudd word is getting throw around like crazy lately. Perhaps us more moderate members need to coin a term for enraged folks who are pulling crap like posting "Good, now it's you Fudds turn. How do you like it?"
Maybe Tactical Fudd?
Because all the Tactical Fudds do is bring more division to the sport...easier to pick us off if we are divided.

i thought it was "Tacti-fool"?

OK so I'm trying (emphasis on the word) to get my head around this.
I am completely new to firearms, (have passed the tests, but have to wait until everything is back to normal before actually getting the license )but I had tried and enjoyed firing some Shotguns at clay targets, and had considered picking up something like a Derya MK12 (I just like the look) or another semi auto shotgun after I picked up a .22

Are they pretty much banned now? Or are they all pretty much OK?
(Maybe a stupid question, but the arguments going back and forth are ..lol I completely admit I haven't got a clue about any specs of this stuff)

Thanks!

LOL the derya mk12 will be banned soon. you must've missed how quickly it got demonized after the shooting at RCMP near Leduc (just south of Edmonton) Alberta the other day. It is pretty sweet looking though.

Fool is a benign term...you could be the best intended nice person and still be a fool.
Nice doesn't describe it when you express Glee at another's misfortune. that's just a juvenile move...doesn't matter what model gun you favor.
But I have to admit it does have a ring to it.

OMG coming from you . Priceless
The hard on you got when you thought the fudds were losing their shotguns would have killed an average man

I have a hard time believing that anyone actually believed that the intent of the OIC was to ban ,most shotguns at this time. But given the situation in Britain and Australia, I do believe that it is just a matter of time until the ban is expanded to semi auto sporting shotguns, and then the pump actions as well.

Idiots. Same people who say stuff like "fudds"

It never was the intent, it was the outcome

RCMP website has a clarification on their site that shows all 12 gauges pass and how they measure the bore just ahead of the chamber, case closed, business as usual with 12 gauge

Careful of that “never was the intent” statement. No one knows what their intent was, and that includes them.

The only intent our present government has is, guns are bad and we’ll do anything and say anything to further our cause to eventually have guns only available to the police and military.

I never said otherwise, only that shotguns were not the intent at this time. It draws to many into the fight too soon

Absolutely Shawn gets it. I will say that the RCMP "clarification" certainly muddies the waters quite a bit. The first person to go to court over a shotgun at least has this to wave in front of the judge. Certainly not an exoneration but an indication of how screwed up the Canadian legal system is. To hell with it, I'm going to the trap range with my prohibited(??????) shotgun.

Not quite, the RCMP site states that they are classifying based on the SAAMI nominal bore diameters, rather than actually measuring the bores. Therefore, the actual bore diameter is irrelevant according to the RCMP. However, it doesn't state that in any actual legislation

I actually don't want anybody to lose their guns. The fact that they missed a bunch is best left alone for more skilled folks than I...like CCFR lawyers. Seems like we are all seeing a miscellany of villians in the shadows, you included... likely me as well.
I don't get to decide how others view me; some would call me a Fudd...some Fudd's would call me a Tacti-fool...enemies seem everywhere to folks on CGN these days.
Kinda sucks... who else misses debating the merits of 9 x 19 vs 45 ACP or 30-06 vs 308? Silly debates that no-one cared about in 2 clicks...good old days.
And I actually don't have but a couple shotguns that don't belong over a hearth. No Black rifles, but I've a CF semi-auto or two...judge not...less I ( or you) be judged I suppose.

It is amazing to me that there is so much discussion about this issue when the behavior of lawyers and prosecutors is so well known and with so much historical precedent. In every area of law, not just pertaining to firearms. There is even the expression "The letter of the law". Lawyers argue and win based on where commas get put. Nothing else matters but the actual wording.

It may not be the intent of Trudeau today. The RCMP may have an opinion about it. Blair may have tweeted. But if it gets in front of a judge, and you can be sure some overzealous cop and prosecutor will make that happen one day, then the merits of the case will be based on exactly what the law says and not what SAAMI or the RCMP or Bill Blair think. The only way to make this not be the case is for the government to change the wording of the OIC or to pass a subsequent law rendering that portion of the OIC null and void because it's been replaced with updated wording.

Just because the above is true, doesn't mean I will do anything different regarding 12 gauge shotguns with chokes. I will be ignoring the prohibition and using them as i always have. And if that means one day i get charged, so be it.

This ^^^ 100%
I would be more than happy to be the first, I'm betting will get nationwide support,
I pay for that firearms insurance, wonder if they will defend or say I was breaking the law so they won't
