After firing a handload of 9.0 gr. W-231 ,fed. #150 primer,a Tuftex wax wad behind a Lasercast 200 gr. r.n.f.p.,a medium crimp in new Fed. cases trimmed back .010, the 5 shot average was 989 ft/sec.,extreme spread of 41 and std. deviation of 17,,,,,,,and a second load of 8.0 gr. Red Dot with same other components resulted in 1046 ft/sec.,an extreme spread of 43 and a std deviation of 17. The results on one hand were predictable for the point of impact to be dramatically low but what really concerns me is the 4 to 5 inch to the right issue.
I can't believe that in this day and age that a company like Ruger would let this get through their Quality Control. To me this can't be right but the question now becomes what to do about it. Do I contact the dealer or Ruger directly?
Any help out there would be appreciated.

you won't get anything from ruger itself- believe me, i've tried, they just send you to SNAPSHOTS@VIDEOTRON.CA- i got my blkhwk about a year ago and i'm still working on graduating that front sight for factory loads- i know it has to be filed down, but i want to know how much before i start cutting- used a red paint pencil and started at the base of the ramp( ie made the front sight too tall in the rear ) and gradually drop it until it zeros

Just finished some new testing with the 200 gr. loads and after fine tuning my sight picture,I've determined the actual point of impact at 20 yards for the load of 8.0 gr. Red Dot @ an average of 1046 f/sec. and the load of 7.4 gr. Bullseye @ an average of 924 f/sec. were printing 2 inches to the right and roughly 5 inches low.The elevation can be remedied by a front sight modification and the windage can be remedied by tweeking the barrel in a "plus or minus " fashion in the frame.Managed to get a nice 2 inch grouping with both loads which may at least suggest my usage of a "tuftex" wax wad prior to seating the bullet is contributing to a better load density as well as holding the barrel leading down to a minimum. This New Vaquero fits MY smallish hand very nicely with the XR3 frame but noticeably inadequate for larger hands. My testing will continue with 250 gr. loads and I'll report my findings for anyone in the same boat.

My testing of lighter loads with 250gr. bullet showed great accuracy with either 5.5grs. of Am. Select or 5.5grs. of Trail Boss also shot to aiming point, very little smoke indoors, using Chambers cowboy bullet and treated with dry moly.
