*new Vid* Winchester Model 94 30-30 question

Loosen the front band screw (don't let it come off the threads) and also the magazine cap screw so the tip is barely inside the barrel. You might want to remove the spring and follower from inside the magazine in case the magazine cap flies off.

Put the rifle down on a hard surface and press down HARD on the rear band screw while you turn it. It will grab the threads if you compress the band a little bit. Then you can snug up the front band screw, then finally the magazine cap (don't forget the spring and follower).

I struggled for an entire evening with that particular problem :) Hopefully I've saved you some frustration - I did warn you about the mag tube :slap:

As suggested, you should check for wear on the pins and replace if necessary.

Thanks MM. Yeah, you did warn me. The front band screw is siezed in there. Can't get it out. I only took off the rear band so I could move the handgard and avoid getting nasty chemicals on it. Next time I get motivated enough to go work on it again I'll try doin' what you've suggested. Thanks ;)
