New Website

The new site is SLOWWWW!

You need to put headers at the top of your site, like before (Accessories, Ammunition, Firearms, etc). When filtering rifle ammo to .22, and I select in stock only, I get an error which shows in stock ammo for all calibres. The old site was much, much better. Atleast bring back that format!

It should be successful in driving business AWAY.. It wont even load properly in IE and as mentioned earlier it is slow..I am timing it with a calender....
Too bad 'cuz the old site worked well and was a dream to navigate.

I hate to say this, but I agree. Unless this is some kind of glitch.

FYI. I messed about a bit with the site and made the following discovery. If you're like me and using a large tv as a monitor and have your ie browser set above 125% some features will not work. Above 125% the drop down menu will not appear.they still must be working on it, because it's very slow.

There are header at the top of the website. If you are talking about the mobile site, there is a hamburger on the top banner you can click to open a menu.

We are working on upgrading the servers to handle the upgraded graphics on this new website. We should have the problem resolved soon. We appreciate your patience.

Although there is the "Menu" link that eventually gets you to products, (and also repeats the top bar menu) it may be better to have a clear and bold "Products" link at the top bar.
I am, by no means a website design expert, it's just something that I see in the majority of retail and services websites, that majority of people are accustomed to seeing when searching for products.

Great site overall, a little slower, but maybe will speed up once you guys are finished development?
Great products and of course great prices with great service.

Keep up the good work!
Cheers!

We will be making the menu on the mobile site much clearer.

Bah.
I ordered another crate of ammo tonight, but it wasn't from Canada Ammo. I can't get on your site!
I'd like to see if you have any bulk 556 for the DA556 I bought last month.
I will check back in a week or so to see if this is fixed. This new website is costing you business.

One thing that I would sincerely recommend when complaining about issues with the CanAm website, that you specify the type of (internet) browser you use and the version of the browser. I suspect that the ones experiencing most of the issues are using the Internet Explorer, the web browser which comes standard with Microsoft Windows. And I am sure a pattern will develop if you do list your browser and version.

Having done a quick CanAm site load test between FireFox v. 35, Internet Explorer v. 11 and Tor v. 4.0.3, the IE v. 11 takes the longest to load than even Tor; and Tor is a relatively slow browser because of how it works.

Another option is to start using a different internet browser, instead of Internet Explorer; then again I don't think most will switch - from the comments on this thread, people don't like change too much.:p

Ya right I don't think so
The old site worked fine on my computers .
They decided to change the site for some reason .
Now it doesn't work so I won't bother with it
I'm sure if some super deal comes up I'll see it posted on CGN soon enough ;)

change is scary

So you must be one of the Amish allowed to use the "internet", good on you, going with progress. Now to only pry you away from your horse and buggy and direct you to this new thing called "auto-mobile". I know I know, change is scary. And don't clutch that flintlock so tight, you will ruin the finish. :p

What no one has explained is what is the benefit to Canada Ammo to making this switch? How does it make them more money? It must have cost them a fair bit of money. What do they get from that expense?

Even if some of their customers are Luddites/Amish/stuck in the stone age they are still customers with money to spend. If the new site discourages even a small percentage to shop elsewhere it is a mistake. (unless of course I'm missing something and the new site is going to increase sales in some other area)

Here's a suggestion. When you do scroll way down to the bottom and finally find categories to click on and get to handguns the only filters are "caliber" and "manufacturer". How about adding categories like "SA revolver", "DA Revolver", "Semi Auto" etc?

In a similar way rifles should be divided by "restricted/non-restricted" and by type of action.

I agree that the headers for categories need to be at the top of the main page, not out of sight at the bottom.

I really liked CanadaAmmo with their old site. This one is not user friendly for the people with limited computer skills like me.
I know I haven't made an online purchase from Epp's, since they changed their site.
Did anyone have any problems with the old CanAm site. I particularly liked the fact that the out-of-stock items were all at the end of the pages.
I look at rifle ammo now, and the first page is mostly O-O-S items.
Oh, how I hate change!!
I luv ya CanadaAmmo, but not this new site.

You are probably one of the ones that actually liked "New Coke"
If it isn't broke don't fix it ;)

Not sure if mentioned or if I'm blind and can't find it But only complaint I have is I can't seem to track my previous order before the site went up. Perhaps a self correcting problem once previous orders are done. Again could be me since its a new site and could be an option I haven't found. Otherwise Its just different and needs tweaking and getting used to

Also re internet explorer

It looks like out IT department has resolved the speed issue.

I am looking into a background that is a little easier on the eyes compared to the very bright, stark white.

There is a menu at the top for access to product categories. It is three horizontal lines on top of one another. We will make this much clearer. There is no need to scroll to the bottom of the page.

We will be getting shipments in every few weeks now so the O-O-S issues will soon be addressed. In the meantime, I think we have been able to move all in stock products to the first pages of the product listings. Also, there is filter to show only in stock product.

Please keep the constructive criticism coming.

All kidding aside, I used to use the IE for all my browsing needs, business and personal. In the past (over 8 years ago) I did try FireFox and used it for over a year, but it was too buggy. In the last year, instead of letting someone try to convince me to go with one or the other, I have tried all the major browsers: Chrome, FireFox, IE and Opera.

I actually found Opera to be the one I liked the best (speed and user interface), but it still was a bit too buggy and the eventual plan for Opera was to upgrade their browser engine to 'Chromium', which is what Google Chrome uses, and at this time I have my personal reservations about Chrome. So, after all that, between my browser wars I settled on FireFox, which is a very modular/customizable browser.

In the end, all browsers are buggy and inconsistent between site loading and display. I still might use IE here and there if FF has an issue on a site, so I don't tie myself to a brand, because they are all "broken" to one degree or another.

I can see the website on my Samsung Note 3 but not on my home PC or my laptop. The laptop is 2 years old so it should be able to see this website. And I only order things from the home PC or the laptop.
I can see every other vendors site, so maybe this new site requires upgrades?

Can you return the ability to add an In-Stock item to your Wishlist? I like keeping a list of things that I want to buy in there. That way when something I want comes in, I can add it to my cart, go to my Wishlist and add the items I'd browsed for before. Also, if it's not too hard, perhaps a Check Box system in the wishlist to multi-select the items you have in there to place in cart, but that's not a big deal

PS: I like the new website. I'm running Firefox and the website runs smooth with no issues.
