Yes read "Crack of Doom"years back, very good. On the Soviet side "The Russian War 41-45" by Alexander Werth is good.
Just bought and saw, again, "Sweet Liberty" excellent comedy about what a historian's true war book gets turned into, by the Hollywood types, when made into a movie. Based on the US War of Independence.
