Newbie Questions

Experienced reloaders will have multiple manuals. Choose whichever one floats your boat. Eventually you will end up with several.

My father taught me to reload over 25 years ago. With the age of the internet physical manuals are not that important anymore. Plus data is also ever changing. For 223 a manual is not needed, they're only really useful for people that cast or older calibers.

I got a caliber that Hornady manual l says 22 is max, but the powder website lowered it down to 20 as max, a few years ago.

OkayShooter - I am a bit "old school" in that reloading processes and cartridges that I used years ago likely continue to work well for me today.

BUT:

Is IMR 4831 powder the same as H4831 powder? Several old books call for "4831" powder. Similarly - is 748 and 760 the same powder as W748 or W760? What is the difference between Fed 210 and Fed 210M primers - can they be safely interchanged?? And can no longer get the same stuff that I used to use to reload - either one company bought another - labels changed, products changed - some no longer made - is "new" stuff available - components and tooling.

Your post is as if a reloading manual is only about their recipes - most of them have much more than that.

2 grns over what they consider max, I'm not taking a chance with H110 and a pistol in my hand.

Still you can get all the information online. So reloading manuals are not that important and doesn't make one less a of a experience reloader if they don't have them.

I often see alot of Ive been reloading x amount of years, as their defense to when they blew up a gun.
