Holy Mackeral! Boys, that looks like my next rifle. The more I read about the blackout, the more I want one. What's ammo availability like Nosrex? And - have you been able to source dies? I've watched Youtube and I don't think I want to make it from .223 if I can avoid it. What's the barrel length on that beast? I will need to see a range report ASAP!

:)

Thanks. Ammo availability seems ok, expensive rounds though. I was able to find dies on the ee and will be cutting down 223 brass. I am back up to work but will put up the range report in a week or so. It's a 12.5" barrel.

Nicely done, I've been making brass and loading for 300BLK for around 3 years now. When you're ready to start loading PM me and I'll give you a couple recipes to help get you started.
H110, Lil'gun, A1680, and IMR4227 are the most useful powders for it, a few others will work but H110 is the most useful for making 110gr fun loads for general plinking. I mostly save A1680 for my 208gr subsonic loads, Lil'gun and 1680 are great for mid weight loads around 155gr.

Just keep in mind that just because you see a load in a reloading manual that doesn't mean it will cycle a semi auto. You don't need an adjustable gas block or different springs or buffers for 300BLK, you just need to use the right powder for the weight of bullet you're using. I have a 12 inch AR build and a conversion kit I put together for my NR ACR and both will cycle my loads from 110- 208gr without issues.

Good luck

Great thank you. I would be interested in the load data right away. I have 4 rounds of factory ammo but everything after that will be hand loaded. A starting point and what to expect would be great if you could pm me. It's running a pistol length gas system as well.

Thanks
Shawn

Hey CR5 can you furnish us with some basic stats on the performance of your gun? Do you get a lot of muzzle blast? What kind of accuracy are you getting from your reloads? Could you post a pic of your build too? I really, really want to get into the 300 BLK but I've never built an upper before. Much of the research I've done so far has most of the Yanks shooting them with cans or suppressors...and I would love to do that but the finks at the RCMP would probably frown on that....In your opinion is this a better way to go than the 6.5/6.8 offerings?

I have three 300BLK rifles. A non restricted ACR with stainless match barrel Suputin turned for me, a 12 inch AR I built also with a stainless match barrel Suputin turned for me and a Remington 700 AAC-SSD 16 inch. Since we are talking about AR's I'll leave out loads for the Rem.

So far my best loads are:

-19.4gr H110 under a 110gr V-max set to 2.04" coal. This load chrony's around 2350fps gets a little better than 1.5moa from the ACR and around 2200fps from my 12 inch AR. This load was developed for my PWS 9.75 inch piston AR that I sold but the load functions well and provides decent accuracy in all my rifles so development has stopped on this projectile for a while

-20.2gr A1680 under a 155gr A-max set to 2.2" coal. This load has shot 0.9moa from the ACR. This is my go-to load for accuracy and for hunting. At the lower velocities of the 300BLK the softer A-max isn't as bad of a choice for hunting. I've seen what these bullets can do on a deer and they hold together well and expand nicely.
This load also shoots sub moa through the Remongton.

-17gr LiL'Gun under a 155gr A-max set to 2.2" coal. This load chrony's around 2000fps from the ACR and 0.9moa is the best group so far. This load is my second choice for when I feel stingy with the A1680. This load also shoots sub moa from the Remington.

-18.6gr of A1680 under a Hornady 168gr HPBT set to 2.215" coal. This load has shot better than 1 moa but I haven't done much testing with it and haven't chrony'd it yet.

-For subsonics I use A1680 and Hornady 208gr BTHP match. 12.4 grains of powder cycles my ACR perfectly, it chrony's just under 1200fps which may be a little fast, that's the lightest I can go and still have it cycle but the load is quieter than normal. I'm going to try it in the AR with the 12 inch barrel and see what it does.

-17.4gr of H110 under a 125gr Nosler Ballistic tip hunting set to 2.06" through the ACR gives close to 1 moa and around 2180fps.

I have some other loads built that I haven't tested yet so once I have some time to play more I'll have more info. I also found some 4227 to try which I've heard is pretty good in the 300BLK.
