Actually, I prefer an evil Zumbo rifle for my road poaching needs. :D

To be honest, I don't like road hunters. I once hunted a spot that I thought was alright. Farm fields, with a small creek and woodlot running through the middle. 3-400 yards from where I was, all around me were gravel roads. I'd watch truck after truck drive by, God forbid someone would get out and walk. I really got peeved when one truck stopped, and I grabbed my bino's. I looked at him, looking at me through his riflescope! Never been back there since.

You're supposed to shoot 'em Cat, not rope 'em and drown 'em. I dunno about you boys out west, sure do things different. :p

Those guys from magazines, make me sick. They go on privately sponsored hunts all over the world. In return they have to write a good article or two.
I guess T/C, didn't invite that buffon on a hunt, and that is hwy he complains.
I like that new rifle, Icon, and I would like to get one, as soon as it is available.

I beg to differ... not all the gunwriters are industry whores.
And if you think it is easy to write or if you think you can do it better then I challenge you to submit an article.:onCrack:
Lets face facts why don't we, the industry and the market are both media driven... without the magazines, television shows and videos there would be no firearms industry.

"The cartridges feed from a three-round straight-column detachable magazine, and this is the only thing I can find about this rifle that is less then iconic. A detachable box is functional enough, but no one needs one except road hunters ....
That's kind of ironic (and morinic) as the detachable mag on an A-Bolt is about the slowest system out there. You couldn't load it fast while jumping from a moving vehicle in preparation of shooting at game.

A 7600 or BLR works much better for this style of poaching. :bangHead:

You MUST be kidding as you didn't write "I'm serious" at the end of that statement.

Do you realize that this forum is a "Medium" and we are all writers... most of us are just to stupid to realize we are doing it for free.
I'm serious:evil:

I think we need to consider what the life experience of this particular writer might be. In many parts of the US, private land is more common than public land, therefore, perhaps in Petzal's experience, a road hunter is likely taking game on private land, although there is no reason why he should be doing so without permission from the land owner.

The real question is, why a DBM equipped rifle would be associated with unethical hunting practices? Certainly anyone who chooses to shoot from a vehicle or trespass onto private land could do so with any style of firearm. Once again we see that a classification of firearm is being labeled as the cause for unethical or illegal activity. That is what must be objected to.

The forum is basically a "conversation", the same as you and I would have at the local coffee shop. We can say pretty much whatever we want without life changing consequences. And yes, I am bright enough to know we would have this conversation for free. ;)

On the other hand, gun writers work (for pay) for magazines that rely solely on advertising revenue for their existence. They don't have the freedom to speak their minds as Mr. Zumbo just found out.

There is a BIG difference between the two .... I'm serious as well.

I disagree... writing is not all that hard. Every letter I have ever submitted to the editor of the local rag in the past 20 years has been published. What irks me about the gun publications is the way the writers have to kiss up to the manufacturer/sponsors...
