Next Jim Zumbo? (David E. Petzal - F&S)

I disagree... writing is not all that hard. Every letter I have ever submitted to the editor of the local rag in the past 20 years has been published. What irks me about the gun publications is the way the writers have to kiss up to the manufacturer/sponsors...

....................Gun writers can't afford to bite the hand that feeds them.

Road hunting is perfectly acceptable in many areas... both east and west.
With regard to the ethics of a detachable magazine... both Petzal and Field and Stream need to rethink their obviously twisted morals and self appointed ethical superiority!

I agree Bigredd, come here to Southern Saskatchewan during the rifle season and all guys do is road hunt unless you're hunting coulees or river bottoms. With the hunting population at an average age of 50 something in Saskatchewan its pretty tough on some of the older fellows to walk for 8 hours straight, thus most opt for road hunting.

i think my idea of road hunting is different from everybody else's
road hunting for me means shooting at something from the road out the window of the truck

exactly what I was thinking.

F&S is going to piss off a lot of customers me thinks
For once I agree with you phiby :p:D:wave: They say hunting from a truck is wrong but when they hunt over bate or on ATVs they think that is not? I think people that use bate (unless they really need to ie. Handy cap, the bush is extremely hard to hunt in) are ethically in the wrong. I hunt from ATVs and trucks I also walk allot so what now I am in the wrong? Hell no and ill continue to hunt like this as well.

I don't have a problem with people hunting from a truck. If you've got your tag, legally allowed to hunt in the area what's the big deal if you shoot it from the truck. The only reason the make it illegal to hunt from the truck is to make it for difficult for poachers, like they're going to worry about whooting from a vehicle anyways. It's all semantics.

real men bulldog 'em!
........I'm not going to even ask what that is........

I generally don't road hunt, but would have NO TROUBLE AT ALL, shooting a legal dear while driving to my hunting spot.

The more guys on the road means less guys in the woods. :)

.

death-junky, so if hunting near bait is wrong, then hunting next to a farmers corn field must be wrong too...and hunting next to a ripe bunch of dropped acorns must be wrong too, etc.

If you have never done it, don't judge it! I have used bait over the last few years for deer, and big bucks will simply not show up while you are on stand. Sure you can see a few does, or the odd young spike, but that's about it. Bait and it's effectiveness is about as good as using deer urine or a deer call or a blind. It's just one more tool and it garantees you absolutely NOTHING!

Yeah... Many of these so called Gun-Writers are nothing more than self serving sycophants for the Gun Rags.
They will gladly climb aboard a golf cart to be driven to a raised shooting platform on Fenced Texas Game Farm. Then after using complimentary State of the Art equipment to shoot Genetically Modified Game over a Genetically Modified Food Plot they trumpet their ostensible triumph in print using glorious superlatives. Then without skipping a beat they will pass judgement on the menial masses for having the audacity to hunt with a detachable mag equipped rifle.
Their Expedient ethics and Machiavellian morals make me want to puke.

Hows that for some excitin writen fellas....

A detachable box is functional enough, but no one needs one except road hunters, and employing it for a rifle as elegant as this is like planting a big zit right in the center of Charlize Theron's forehead.

His DBM = road hunting is a bone headed statement, do these people think that there will be no repercussions for the things that they say?

To put a little icing on the cake he portrays Charlize Theron as a lust worthy woman. For Putzal to even mention that air-headed b%@!h in an outdoor magazine is an abomination, unless he was informing the world of her mission to save all that is cute and fuzzy. You would think that an outdoor writer would have a slight clue that she is a staunch PETAphile, AND the editor didn't pick up on any of this stuff.

At least outdoor life dropped Zumbo, so I can buy that rag, looks like no more F.S.

WOW.

this crap is stupid , like I said on the other thread about it I didnt relise there was that many retards in canada, think before you type my god, road hunting is bad but hunting over a bait pile is good or hunting by boat is better? who gives a ratsass what style of hunting you chose as long as its legal , and comments like road hunters are the guys that take the handicapped parking spots??? WTF must be cool to type it and not have to face it.. I bet you dont got bars either as yer lips get the rest of yer face in trouble on a regular basis lmao ???? PUTZ

IMHO these "big time" hunting & fishing magazine writers are often incapable or original thought beyond what a sponsor tells them, and they equate word count with dollar signs...so the real question is:

Who is paying them to go after the semi auto/detachable magazine crowd?

Who's their political pimp?
