I gotta side with Marshall on this one, I'd take my 858 over the SKS any day of the week.

The SKS is an entry gun. If you are buying your first centerfire then its a great gun to buy. If you're collecting then its good for that too. If you want a great gun at a good price the VZ58 is hands down a better gun. In spite of what the snobs might say I'd stack the VZ58 against an AR any day of the week and take the VZ58.

I bought a yugo 59/66 brand new covered in cosmoline and i love it. I think if your looking at price wise, i bought a more expensive sks model and still is about half the price of a cz. I've looked at the cz in the store and it closely resembles an ak which is cool. Other than that i don't know much about it. It is non restricted which is a plus. Another thing is that they are brand new rifles.

Correct me if im wrong but arent all 858's detachable mag? I know only the sks d modle had a factory detachable mag, and it wasn't that reliable. I owned an sks with hinged mag and loved it im trying to make up my mind myself on the sks 858 delema. What options are there for synthetic stocks on for the 858?

Someone was saying a place out east is Importing FIOCCHI non-corrosive 7.62x39 - $14/box

On the plus side... at least we can still buy ammo when the surplus is gone
(No 7.62x39 is allowed into Canada from the USA - it's a banned export)

in vancouver there is a westley surplus has serbian non-corrosive for $14 , at least they had it a few months ago .

I have a 59/66 SKS, and have test-fired a couple of CZ .... Honestly I have yet to feel the urge to buy a CZ ....

It is slightly better then market value for hunting rounds of that caliber. It's pretty decient stuff though. I would use it for hunting.

Ya guess if its good, but i can buy ok ammo for my -06 for 16.99 a box and i wont have to be standing right next to the deer to knock it down... ok a little exaggeration but i wouldnt trust it passed 100yds though.
