Nightforce SHV or Sightron SIII

I really like my SHV. The glass is excellent, great reticle and it came at a competitive price. I dont know if it is a fair comparison though. It depends which model of SIII it is being compared to. The SHV has capped turrets. The clicks are positive, but they sure dont compare to the NXS or the SIII. (I finally got to take a look at one on the weekend)

So far I have been happy with choosing my SHV, but it is on my hunting rifle and I only use it for holds. The reticle has allowed me to make holds out to 600 practicing on steel. I would say the glass is pretty close to my NXS's if not the same. Pretty hard to tell the difference.

I have the SHV and two NXS. Bit of a Nightforce fanboy I guess.

I recently purchased a 4-14 shv and have been using an siii 6-24ffp for some time now.
Optically they both resolve about the same, the shv is brighter though.
Only negatives I have about the shv are the smallish turrets and the lack of a proper mil based reticle and corresponding mil adjustments. All the wind formulas and mover leads I have ingrained in my head are mil based...
My gripes with the sightron are turrets that get moved accidentally every time the rifle is rubbed on something, no illumination, the reticle is a bit thick at max power, and I wouldn't trust it to take a hit and shrug it off. It "feels" lightly built for field duty, and I think that's what pushes some folks away from them.
