Nightforce vs Schmidt and Bender vs Vortex vs US Optics

I have both CCW & CW rotation elevation turrets on my S&B's and can't complaint. Same for the MTC LT & DT. Used to both so I only have to remember where the elevation arrow points when zeroed!

I narrowed it down to S&B and Night force. Are the differences between the two really justify the price difference?

Having both myself, both very strong build and precise tracking but in clarity, have to give a small edge to the S&B... And as you said, less money for a NF... JP.

Is that small edge in the clarity worth the difference in your opinion? I am just thinking if a sniper like Chris Kyle used Nightforce for his duty, I would think the glass is clear enough? How much clearer it can get, and will an average joe like me notices the difference when looking through them side by side?

To find the differences, you have to put the scopes side-by-side and look for them. There is no practical difference in clarity that will have any effect whatsoever on actual shooting.

Hmm I would like to do that but which stores in Toronto or GTA that I can go to view them side by side?

Never mind. According to S&B website, no dealers in Ontario.

You are right about the practical shooting clarity, the test i made was not scientific and based only on my vision, both scopes S&B 5X25X56 PMll and NF NSX 5.5X22X56 both were zero on a little island at 800 metres on the lake up my summer place... We could filed this into my personal choice... JP.

The glass on the ATACR F1s and BEAST are better than the old NXS. That would be a better comparison.

To properly compare scopes, the ocular and parallax need to be adjusted for YOUR eye. Comparing two scopes without adjusting these is like trying on different prescriptions of eye glasses and then drawing conclusions about the quality of the glass in them. This is what it amounts to when you look through different people's scopes at the range and try comparing them. It's worthless.

Fair enough... JP.

Hey Caramel or anybody, how about warranty? Which one has better warranty? Do they come with lifetime warranty?
If you buy the used ones (either s&b or nf), is the warranty transferable?

He's my two cents ... I had both night force and Schmidt and bender side by side and to me the Schmidt was a lot clearer than the night force and the other difference is one is made in Japan and the other is made in Germany
You decide ??????

If you have S&B money but want the best warranty in the firearm industry (IMO) I would say go with the Vortex Razor HD Gen II. I know a lot of really high end shooters use this scope because Vortex puts a lot of R&D into their glass, and is always a great value for your money.. even when spending over $3000

I heard about Vortex warranty. How about Nightforce warranty? I also thought Nightforce is made in USA, not Japan?

Is it possible that the reason why Vortex is able to offer the unbelievable warranty because customer is pretty much pay foy for it upfront by paying premium on their optics? The HD one is almost on S&B price level.

You really ought to be specifying models if you want concice answers.

I have to say, i have rarely seen as much conflicting reviews of a given brand. Vortex: From the crossfires to the razors...as many people trashing them as loving them. From a potential buyers point of view it is a real turn off. I'm in the market for a new scope and it's a real PITA to sift through all the opinions out there in order to get an idea...

Who really wants to use that great warranty? I don’t need no fancy reticle, i just need a good clear glass, perfect tracking, reliable for as little money as possible. I’m getting amazing feedback from the SWFA SS 16x42, it’s fixed power but i came to the conclusion that i rarely use the variable zoom, it’s always on max...so. If I'm hitting that gong at 700 or grouping like I want to at x yards and the 500$ scope is doing it's job perfectly then heck, I win...I would rather spend the $ on powder and bullets.

I honestly never look at the warranty, in my book dealers like Wolverines, whom i bought a ton of S&B never had to claim nothing as those scopes are perfection, but would happen a problem, even if i am out of warranty, these guys will take care of me big times...
Class act scopes from a class act dealer... What to worry... JP.

For single distance paper punching, max power may work fine (above 20x doesn't when mirage gets heavy). For field shooting where you need to search for your targets and they may be moving, lower magnification is your friend.

You cannot buy SWFA in Canada.

Sorry. I would if I did suspect that.

Nothing wrong with that. Everyone has different POV.

True. I have nothing but great experience with Wolverine. But, what kind of warranty that comes with NF and S&B anyway, Caramel?
