Nightforce vs Schmidt and Bender vs Vortex vs US Optics

Reviews are great, except when a Ford dealer reviews a Dodge, we have to question credibility. ;)

I hear ya but it is just an opinion and it isn't like Mystic is posting under a different user name pretending to be an average end user( believe me, lots of this goes on). So, I for one appreciate his honesty in posting under his REAL user name. He isn't trying to hide anything. So how is that a foul? I just don't see it that way. He is taking full responsibility for it and frankly if it was way off base it would only hurt him. I think he knows this so his reviews( while I don't always agree) are reasonable.

I have an FN SPR A5M with 20' barrel in 308, and I am shopping for a good quality, reliable, all around scope. I narrowed down my choices to Nightforce, Schmidt and Bender, US Optics, and Vortex. Now I know that some of you will say "take down Vortex from the line of my choice as it is not comparable to the other three", but I have also heard people say great things about Vortex and for their warranty.

I am a bit flexible on the budget, but I rather not go beyond $3000 (tax not included). I am looking for a keeper that I plan to keep for a long time, and I thought buy once cry once for a great quality optic.

My purpose is for long and shorter distance sniping, and for zombie out break LMAO
Also, which type of reticles that would you recommend and why?
Nightforce is the toughest out of all of them , they have a thicker body (thicker scope tube)

Nightforce's claim to their scopes' strength definitely has merit however I'd be more reluctant to say they have the strongest tubes without having concrete evidence. Their ATACR weighs 38oz as does the S&B PMII while the TT525P weighs in at 40. I'd give all three equal footing in terms of robustness. I'd also be willing to bet that the tubes of all three makes are constructed well beyond the requirement of any military spec.

The Razor wins in the length department compared to most of the premium optics it's competing with. It really is an impressive scope, and one I wouldn't mind owning. I'm surprised they've never offered it in black. That trademark colour really doesn't do it for me. FDE is it?

It's not FDE, it's ###ier than FDE. "Stealth Shadow" I think they call it. They claim that it's not reflective, and harder to see than black or FDE.

I spent about 2 weeks trying to find a cerakote blend that'd come close to it, cause I'm getting my Modern Hunter done in it. Ended up with an 80:10:10 mixed of Burnt Bronze, Sniper Grey, and Tungsten with the hardener at about 18:1. It's not bang on under all lights, but I couldn't huff anymore fumes......

Ahh, Modern Hunter with a Razor... nice choice. I went with a March, very light and compact with world-class glass. March is one of the best kept secrets IMO.

I'm happy I never went with a MH, my ammo costs would be through the roof! Its hard enough just shooting 100 rounds a week on a bolt action, semi I'd probably do double or triple that. Especially on a NR one.

Aside from its intended hunting use, I like the idea of it as a bear defence tool. Scope on 2.5x and five rounds in the mag, only because I'd never use a 10rd pistol mag in a rifle. That would just be wrong.

Are you serious?
There is no such thing as capacity limits for RIFLES or PISTOLS, only magazines therefore any pistol magazine that can fit in your rifle is legal. As long as the magazine is DESIGNED for a pistol aka XCR pistol magazines (the kind ATRS are also making now) and says PISTOL stamped on the magazine. Just because they happen to work together doesn't mean you'll get charged with a prohibited device! There's a letter head from the RCMP on questar talking about the LAR-15 magazines being used in rifles, which is legal.

No, I am not serious.

Just my lame attempt at appeasing the overlords. I hoped you'd see the sarcasm but it's hard to do without voice inflection.
