Why can't Nikon offer different reticles??? Those circles drive me nuts.
I believe they do.

Well I couldn't resist and just picked up the above mentioned ProStaff 5 from Cabela's along with a set of the P series cantilever mounts for my newly acquired Troy PAR .308. Should work well!
As per the CGN rules, feel free to PM me and I can give you the MSRP's. Since I'm not an official site sponsor they don't like me publicly advocating sales. Thanks!
Would like to hear what you think about it once you try it out. Haven't had time to mount mine yet. The 2.5-10 is still on sale and in stock at Cabelas.
Took it out for a bit today...honestly not super impressed. Gets pretty bad edge distortion at 10x and has a very narrow eye box. Very easy to get it to wink out if you move your head ever so slightly. I have I think 7 or 8 Elite 3200s that are 1.25-4 , 2-7, 3-9 and 5-15 and they are all better scopes to my eyes. Better glass, better eye box, and more constant eye relief. Same with my 3 Burris FF2 scopes. In fact my Legend Ultra HDs are better in all respects to my eyes. I'll give this ProStaff 5 a bit more time since I really like the SpotOn app even though the reticle is busy. I really want to like this scope, however I just wasn't blown away by it. Nice build quality though and easy to adjust turrets. Don't like the plastic turret caps though. Very easy to cross thread.
The two I saw were simple pics, not through the scope itself. I would be more interested in the MOA reticles.Which one?
I like Nikons - so I tried another one that has the little extra marks for ranging - though I didn't think that I would like the clutter of marks to look through. I bought it anyways and after using it in low light conditions, I decided that I was right in the first place. I zero at 200, so the extra ballistic compensating marks are a waste of clear view.
Most modern centrefires drop another 24" - 28" at 400 if zeroed at 200, so at 400 yards, the top of the thickened post can be used instead of the centre of the fine cross. Your mileage will vary with set power of magnification - but it is still good to check your mileage. This distance from post to crosshair can also be used to rangefind in a pinch.
Through the scope itself I don't have anything as of yet, should hopefully get my production samples in about 3 weeks time and will be able to help then.
