Today, I finally received my AR. :D

After a cursory inspection, everything seems to be OK. I hope to take it to the range soon (tomorrow?), but until then, here are some pics.

I think yours was from the same batch as mine, what's the finish like on yours do you have the tooling marks?

Apart from the finish on mine it's great, shoots well and no problems so far with a couple of hundred rounds through it.

Remember that unlike a forged AR, every mm of that rifle has been machined. There's going to be the odd tooling mark. We have wotked hard with the programming as well as post machining techniques to make it as uniform as possible, but it is still a billet beast.

Nice! Here's a question that may or may not have been asked before: is the finish more of a dull dark grey or is there a hint or purple?

It's quite black in person.

Yeah, mine has some swirls and tool marks, but nothing too major. None of them on mine are big/bad enough to be bothersome.

I am REALLY liking it so far. I am surprised that I really don't mine the grip and buttstock.

hey nine i just got mine today and already have a bit of an issue have you field stripped lubed and function tested yet? mine will not reset the trigger without dropping the hammer... sigh.

Mine has a few swirl marks, mostly on the rail, but barely noticeable unless you're looking for them. It definitely seems to have a purplish tinge but I have halogens in my basement so could just be that.

Then why are members like DWEENS still getting rifles that look awfull?

We get it...you don't like how they look...for a guy who doesn't own one (have you seen one in person?) you seem to be awful upset about it though.

I have to ask, WTF is going on at NEA? Do your QC people even give 1% about the job they do? I work as a toolmaker and If I ever let parts with my companies name on them go out the door with the huge nasty machining marks on them like the things i have seen on this site JUST TODAY, My boss would beat me with a vice handle. If I sent assemblies out that couldn't function because of clearance issues after claiming I had tested them, I would be unemployed instantly. Hang your head in shame.

Have you seen the machining on dweenz upper?. The casing deflector is some of the worst work I have ever seen, anywhere. If you have QC people, which ever one released that upper as OK to go out needs to be fired for incompetance. I do precision machining for a living so I have an idea what parts that go to a customer are supposed to look like. If I released work like that and a customer even saw it I would be terminated before the end of the day.

Be carefull what you wish for.

You know those guys that don't have any guns, but have learned everything from websites and airsoft stores...

Yes I am upset about the way they look. I was really excited to see a Canadian company build an AR. Then I see a product that looks like crap and has widespread issues in regards to function , heat treat, tolerances . Yes I saw three in person at my local store. All of them looked like crap and of the three 2 didn't work out of the box. Thats a 66 percent failure rate OUT OF THE BOX. I work in precision manufacturing so I know for a fact that there is no excuse for the crap finishes getting out to customers. Dweenz reported that the castle nut was 2mm too tall. Thats .0786" thats over 1/16" oversize. They claim to have tested the rifle but the thing couldn't be cocked, so how did they test it?. Lies are one thing, but thats a stupid lie. And no I don't own one because looking at that crappy finish full of marks would piss me right off. I wanted to buy an NEA, but at this level of quality not a chance.

Yeah you got me. I clearly don't know sh!t.Laugh2:p

Then post your NEA AR and show us what you don't like about it. Maybe they aren't perfect and a few people had issues, but what is your stake in it that you need to follow the NEA threads around bashing them.

I don't have one, so I am not going to tell you how great they are, or how bad they are. Let the NEA owners discus their guns.

I wouldn't buy one, read what I wrote the quality is not there. They talk all this crap about being a superior product. But of the three I have handled 2 didn't work. Why would I buy that?
