In a fit of generosity, I once gave to a CGN member a steel Weaver 4X scope resembling a lot the original "T" model...:eek:
Well, I guess it was the thing to do.:)
Besides, even locating and securing the Sarco clone looks today like a very doubtful proposition, so...

... I don't think it's entirely out of the question. 'Just be more expensive and time consuming that originally thought. Locating the mounting pads, could well be the a problem. ...... meanwhile, I'll probably pick up a cheap set of "no gun-smithing required" mounts . At least that way I an see the target and play with getting some sort of groups (once the bedding is adjusted ! ) ....... David K. ......:canadaFlag:

CGNTZ member Billybob has been selling a succession of Clone Snipers, with Sarco mounts. Some skill is involved in installing the pads plus he sells them with scope, mount, pads and all, all installed and sighted in. He has one for sale now as we speak.

Please don't drill & tap a 1941 No4 rifle.

They aren't common in any flavour.
 
.... Was'nt planning to,thus as an interim measure, the "no gun-smithing scope mounts" which, hopefully will suffice until I can get my hands on a set of Repro Sniper Mounts. Drilling and Tapping would for me, completely negate the intent, as I'd like to be able to show up, with what" looks like a period piece" and be able to give the guys with all the modern stainless steel and Kevlar "wonders" something to ponder at the 200 yard mark ! ('eye sight is not up to the task without a scope unfortunately !! ) .... David K. ......;)
 
Collectors source has origional pads listed for $95. Let the stampede begin.

There was also some guy on ebay selling repro pads along with the screws and even the taps for about $200 if I recall.

Quite frankly, I would suggest you sell off what you got now and make a down payment on a real one. The way they have been going up in value, they are better than any investment portfolio.

All matching Enfield with case and scope can 1999 cost $900
Same outfit today: $3500
rate of return: almost 300% over 8 years.

There is a matching one now that just showed up on the EE.
 
.... I would seriously consider doing as you suggest "stencollector" but I have a young family, with all the associated activities and costs, etc. and a fixed (pension) income, so to outlay $3500, when I'm the only family member that's interested, or would use it, is really not a viable option ! Most, if not all , the Lee Enfields I've got were bought BC ..... Before Children that is ! .............It's tough being a Geriatric Stud Muffin ! ..... David K. ....;)
 
No drill/tap mounts will work just fine .
Sure , there might be some minor fitting for security but it's no big deal .

Absolutely true Tom , the T mount looks best on the No4.
No doubt about that.
But...
With the fraction of the cost , the no D/T mount can be changed out in a few minutes so you can go back to having some fun with original sights and charger loading ,
... you can try it out on another rifle ,
... it still looks cool ,
... the T repro mount isn't going to make the rifle shoot any better ,
...and ( a priority , IMHO) the rifle has not been bubba'd.

I believe I have an S&K mount on the way. I like the convertability of that rifle and your point is taken.

Hey, where'd you get that bayonet/bipod? Got another one you'd sell???
 
I'm thinking of ordering an Armalon or Flutons mount. The S&K mounts are not bad but I think the brit units look like they are lower and further foward. Anyone have an Armalon or Flutons mount?

Just to make things clear about it , I only use it as a holder .
I'm "fairly" sure that shooting with it may damage the bayo lugs and will throw off the MPI so bad I just as well shoot from the hip...;)

No Gunsmithing Scope mount for a No.4 ?

.... Since a repro. "T" Mount is currently not available, I did a quick (looking for a Canadian source) search and found Marstar has a no gunsmithing mount for the N0.4 ...." Lee Enfield no4 Scope Mount AT-ENF-0141 " @ $69 . Anyone have experience with one of these ? They look like a fairly low mount and reasonably solid with mounting on the original rear sight base predominately. Comments appreciated before I spend the housekeeping money on one ! ..... Just a warning. Installing the fromt mounting pad for a "repo" T sniper mount requires some machining of the reciever.
I believe "Aim surplus" was selling FAKE snipers and they simply screwed the front pad on cockeyed. Oh yeah, they also used phillips head screws!:puke:

There are some plastic/fibreglass/glass filled mounts out there...I may be wrong but that may well be one, is it ATI?
S&K, Cad Technic, Armalon, maybe B Square...those are the best ones, they're more expensive but it may be worth it.
 
... Thanks "Cantom" for the "heads-up" .... although I treat my firearms with care, the pride of ownership thing precludes plastic/fiber glass for a mount ! ...... David K. .....:)

You mean like this? :D

~Angel~ uses an add-on Lee-Enfield No.4 muzzle brake. It simply pulls over the muzzle and straps on the bayonet lug. You hand tighten the screw and you're good to go. She uses them on her No.4(T)'s and finds a recoil reduction of at least 50%. She's able to shoot for hours without tiring and makes a day out more enjoyable, although I suppose technically it's cheating as compared to shooting them the way they were issued. :D

Put WTB ads on various milsurp boards and keep your eye on eBay for them, or make them up yourself... ;)

A Temporary substitute for a "T" Mount

..... Following "Cantom's" heads-up on possible resin made mounts; I e-mailed MARSTAR last night, and they must have had someone waiting all night for my inquiry, as first thing this morning a reply, the mounts they have, and always on hand, are METAL, so, guess the end of the month I'll order one, sooner if possible ! ..... as an interim measure they look petty good, and maybe a lower cost version of those made in the UK ? ....David K. ......:)
