No firearm test required?

btw, the CANADIAN military has NEVER issued /used/whatever the m60 or the m16- those are STRICTLY american weapons- up here it's c7. c8, or whatever- as far as i know-

mmhmmm... yes....

If a person is talking out of their ass, (like says he got to keep his M-60 and M-16 upon release from the Canadian Military) you may also want question wether the dude served at all, or if he just watched too many war movies.

It was implied, and it was a hypothetical example. I would hope most gunnutz would be able to see through a similar BS story.

Remember our range declaration:

I have NO live rounds or empty casings in my possesion, Sir.

Does this still apply???

Yep. I've heard a few variations of it, (based on the type of ammo) but the declaration still gets done after every range or exercise involving small arms ammo, explosives, pyrotechnics, self contained weapons, etc...

sidearms,as late as vn, were a DIFFERENT matter- back then, things could vanish by magic as well as" dropped in combat" or dropped overboard while hauling our asses out of there"
there was one guy that managed to "send home" a couple of mohawk aircraft in crates - they didn't find out until years later- but he was in supply and services and "knew people"

Methinks you are you one of "those guys" who like to tell stories.

So a guy... "sent home" a couple Mohawk aircraft in crates, eh? save it...

Ok here's one that I heard at the range and I don't know if it's BS. A navy weapon tech told me that it's ok to take 5.56 home from the armoury when the ship's moored. This would be the most badass reason to be in the military, free ammo. Is this true?

That is BS too...see my other post.

Forgot to add that he's a Vietnam vet as well...:p;)[/QUOTE

Well he's obviously a well trained, honest, pay on time, upstanding pillar of the community with lots of experience with Military trained personel, why else would he make those comments? :stirthepot2:

Heard he pays upfront as well, outstanding credit rating!! :) He's not military though but better, likely private contract type but he's done it all if you read all his post. :bsFlag: He drinks grape Koolaid...

Everyone has to remember that the CF does not have the budget to give everyone a weapon when they retire. It would be great to be able to give "ALL" members the general equipment they need to do there jobs let alone there own weapon !!

Wear R.E.D on Fridays~ (Remember Everyone Deployed)

Sigh... Not grasping it. lol... (So, so much wrong with that statement :( )

WRT getting a firearm when retiring: It's not going to happen because of politics, current policy, arbitrary laws, precedence, lobbying anti's, the media, and general public horror (spawned by the recoiling media), LONG before it would ever be about the budjet...;)

(Furthermore: Of course there's no budjet to donate service rifles to retired members! It does not happen, thus negating the necessity for an existing budjet ;))

WRT Equipment: Your perception of the financial state of the military is a little skewed. The CF has more than enough money to ensure the troops have the essentials they require to get the job done. Dont you worry. (For example, that's how we got M777's, C17's, AHSVS, UAV's, RG31's, sharks with frik'n lazerbeams...etc)

Also know that not everyone in the military needs the ###iest kit in existance to do their jobs, and do them well. (I can do mine with clipboard and a pencil.)

So that's why I'm still waiting for my shark, the military's taking them all!
Nothing changes, the military's still run by idiots -there's no water in 'Stan for a shark.

and you'd be wrong- it made the papers- us vet charged with importing war materiel back into america- it was well- documented in the press- he went to court and pleaded that because it was a RECE aircraft and NOT ARMED , it was not "war material"- the wings were in giant crates -the reason it caught my eye was a lot of us have "war material" - ie webbing, clothing , etc-and could be concieveably charged -mof , he tried to bring them in through montreal and was "caught" at the border- i don't know how the mohawk breaks down, but if you had enough time, knowledge and "spare parts"
the press may have been guilty of exaggeration at the time- a couple of wings and engines does not an aircraft make- no mention of the fusulage or tail assembly- unless those were shipped and confiscated seperately- being canada, it was given a brief blurb in the paper and dropped- it , of course , horrified the avaiation community in the states as the only surplus warbird aircraft parts market is overseas , as these aircraft were seconded to 3rd world after the war
the way the article read the first line went" a us vet has been charged with smuggling war material, ie a couple of mohawk aircraft , used in the viet nam war, etc- THEY CHARGED HIM WITH SMUGGLING THE WHOLE PLANE- twice-then they proceeded to dig into his background and found out he was supply-

It is entirely your right to be offended. Of course those who take offence usually fit the description.

I didn't say all CF personnel fall under this category, but the greater majority I've shot with or instructed(PAL course) have little issue with sweeping others.

Hey lips, wrap a towel around you head and say Allah Akbar in front of our boarding team, we'll see about sweeping and hopefully all our mags will be empty and all the actions will be locked to the rear:rolleyes:

Thanks for the tough guy speech but I'm landlocked and don't venture out on the ocean much.

Luckily, wearing a towel on your head and saying "God is great" in Arabic are not grounds for "sweeping". In most circles "over there" its a greeting and salutation.

Careful on how you portray the CF. Not everyone knows or cares to know what we do or to what extent we go to do it properly. Rules of engagement must (and are) to be followed meticulously

Unless you're at the bar, then you guys engage yourselves in stupid activity and look like retards, especially to the ladies
