No first click on my Uberti El Patron?

Lol, you on the cooking wine again...

I had a Colt third generation, the only thing better about it was the history.

I've come to the opinion, that the antique Colt ,is the only one worth having.

Yeah.
Colts are not all they are made out to be. Especially more recent made versions of the SAA. The original hand made, hand fitted ones are masterpieces of machining. But everything after those early ones get progressively worse.
I've owned two Pietta clones and they are rock solid. Even many hundreds/thousands of rounds later each they just keep going. Never a single issue. Timing, lockup and accuracy are rock solid.
Especially when you compare a $2.5K price sticker to a $450 Pietta.....yeah no thanks. If I was a collector or something maybe. But they are way overpriced.

If the hammer is still locking/performing it's desired function at each of the notches then the gun is still in working shape. There's nothing really wrong with it.
Sell it for what it's worth Sir. Just disclose that it does not have the distinctive click at the half #### safety notch. t

You can try the Pietta's if you do decide to sell her. Marstar has them for the lowest prices in Canada (as long as you don't do the CGN drama band wagon jumping thing. They have a reputation problem on here) I have never owned a Uberti but have owned two Piettas and I can speak very highly on the quality/reliability/accuracy of the Pietta clones.

Trinimon,

All the Uberti/Pietta clones I have owned and taken apart to troubleshoot for others have had original design style flat sear/bolt springs.
Not sure if Wolf makes flat springs though. I have no experience with aftermarket upgrades for the SAA.

The El Patron series (other than hand fitted/tuned) are upgraded with Wolff springs, not the regular springs found in the stock Cattleman etc. My Cattleman had the stock flat spring and I upgraded it with the Wolff ones which are wire springs.

Ah. I always wondered if there was any actual difference aside from materials in the El Patrons.
Interesting.

Hey Travis, I've owned a Pietta,.45 LC and as nice as it was,
The Other El Patron, was the nicer gun.
Better finish, better trigger ,and I found it more accurate.

But at almost twice the price, that should be expected:)

Fair enough.
Fit and finish for me mean nothing though.
I like the soviet approach ;)
And I am ridiculously cheap lol
I wanted to get a Pietta in .45 LC but the ammo was just beyond expensive.

Yep .45LC is pricy,that's why I reload.
30 cents a pop:)

I decided to sell the Uberti,on the EE,
Thanks for the help

Hey, this gun is missing its first click, has bluing loss on both sides of the barrel and internal parts seems to be well used.

But has no cylinder drag???
How do you explain that?

lol, for the EE, that's like "practically like new" and only 100 rnds fired and well cared for safe queen. :)

I have been reading all the posts here tonight, and something I never seen was, when you #### it, put forward pressure on the trigger -push it to the front as you #### the gun, and see if you can hear the other click? If so , you know that it should be there and spring to weak or hammer buggered, mind you I don't think a new spring will fix it from what I am reading on this saga, Just kidding, good to ask questions first, gunsmith would have a lot less work if people asked before plumping guns.

The seller said all four clicks were there when he put it in the mail.
He listed the gun as in excellent condition.
I guess I caused the hammer issues, bluing loss on both sides of the barrel, poor fit on the grips, and internal wear .
All in the couple of days ,I had the gun. Lol

I can hear the click when I put forward pressure on the trigger.

It could be worn springs and/or worn safety notch on the hammer or could be worn trigger or a combination of them. A worn safety notch can be restored but that's better left for someone who knows what they're doing else too deep a notch and you'll may need a new hammer.

I wouldn't sell it just yet without letting someone have a look first ie a fellow CGNer who's familiar with SAA pistols.

Just out of curiosity, I noticed your El Patron has a flat trigger spring. All the Wolff trigger springs I've seen have been the wire type, not the flat ones. Does Wolff even make flat ones?

I was checking out the spring situation.
The cattleman, comes with the flat spring.
But the El Patron, is supposed to have Wolfe springs, which is not flat.
Now what do you think happened there?
Are Uberti selling upgraded guns ,without actually doing the upgrades?
Or did the seller switch out the springs, before he sold it to me?

From the sounds of things, seems like the seller pulled a fast one in ya. Possibly the original sping broke and he bought a standard version replacement. The holster wear would indicate that he probably used it for shooting CAS, maybe realized the pistol was starting to wear and was cheaper to sell it off than have it repaired. You'd like to give the seller the benefit of the doubt but him listing that pistol as "excellent condition" does not give me much confidence...

Your spring is shot Sir like I said in my second post on this thread.
It could also be wear on the trigger/hammer as well contributing but the spring would have been a cheap fix to see if it resolved the problem. You can get a new spring or upgraded Wolf one like Trinimon has relatively cheap.

lol Aye the old EE. It's where I get all my guns.
I've had a few "like new, only 30 rounds of non corrosive fired" show up at my door as well. My favorite is when it's an add for a .22LR or a soviet surplus bullet hose like the SKS.
Because everyone who buys a .22LR only takes 100 rounds to the range for the day and majority of people buy 20 round boxes of Hornady 7.62x39mm at $40 a box and then sell both guns the next day right?

Sounds like he shot the #### out of it, maybe even fanned it off a couple times. Noticed it was starting to wear out, threw some cheap replacement parts in and flipped it on the EE "in excellent condition" lol I'm not aware of firearms degrading in their short journey through Canada Post....at least none of the ones I sold in actual Excellent Condition have ever. If he actually told you the gun functioned excellent when he boxed it and shipped it and now it doesn't means he's crooked.

If you want original Uberti parts order them from Stoeger Canada. They are the distributors here and they seem to keep a good supply of parts and were not expensive.
