Non-Restricted ACR Blues

Nope, it is not a deal at all. I'm not defending the Questar ACR's, just the ACR in general. I have not heard of any problems with the restricted ACR's in Canada, only the Questar ones. That being said there are a lot of XCR loving, ACR hating members on this board that are piping in under the guise of objectivity.

I hope you are not talking about me. I like all guns. I am a gun nut! I just don't care for gun bashers. I may buy an ACR someday. I just can't spring the cash for one right now as I spent it all on my Noveske.:D

You are getting upset at "perceived bashing". (Ya ya I know you aren't upset but you did bring it up.) Try being an XCR owner on this board trying to enjoy and talk about your rifle. The consensus on those threads by the people who don't like the XCR is that the gun should be flawless for the money paid. Where are they now?

Anyways I do not want to ruin this thread and won't say anything else in it. Tear me a new one if you like. You might be ragging on a future ACR owner though.

The Giant, I was not talking about you at all. Its all good. As for black rifle money, you spent it well. My Noveske will be the last black rifle I ever sell. IMHO, An AR should be the first black rifle you buy. I only bought an ACR for its NR potential.

You mean like this one:

I think He mean the Non Restricted, and by the way they are not $3000 any more, there isn't any real issue with the Rifle, the only thing is: Mag are pricy. I do believe ACR are some what pricy for what they are.

That carbine IS Non-restricted. Notice the custom krieger barrel. It is the only one in the country.

I have faith in the ACR and would not advise anyone against it just yet. To those that think it is over complicated with features, I would have to disagree. It is a very simple rifle. It was designed to be simple. I think that once my issues are resolved, it will run great.

wouldn't be a bad ideal of getting an ACR with the proper length of barrel to be a NR directedly from the manufacture.

Good to hear Questar is coming through for you in the end :D

Its too bad they have problems, but based on the US there was definitely some teething issues, same as the XCR had. Although IMHO the barrel work as such was a bum deal, that should have been inspected before being let out, especially for such small runs of barrels, it would only take 30 seconds or a minute to properly inspect a barrel to make sure it's properly aligned!

Chalk it up to a learning experience though, hopefully everyone learns from this and future issues can be averted :)

Everyone is trying to reinvent the wheel, ACR, XCR, SCAR. In the quest for features it seems something was lost in the basics.

You seem to forget that when the AR first came out, it was regarded as a massive piece of junk and took 10 years to actually work most of the bugs out of it.

The same thing is happening here.

Why oh why can't we just have NR ARs... So much song and dance and beating around the bush. We all know that is what we really want in the end... :p

Come on guys! We all know most of us would still like to have at least one of everything even if AR's were NR. We are Gun Nutz after all.

Actually, I disagree. Since the price of one of these NR models is between $3000 - $5000 (depending upon optional equipment), I would be more than satisfied with a NR AR. Now, if the price on one of these dropped to ~$1500.. that would be a different story (if the AR's were NR).

Yet, that just about it, If ar were NR at the moment, no way it would be $1500.

Just curious how things are working out for the OP, and any others with a non-res ACR.

Is the washer fix holding up? Any other thoughts on how it has been functioning?

Do we know when the next batch (either res, or non-res) are going to be showing up?

I bought an ACR from Saskatoon Gun Works and had Questar ship the barrel there and SGW installed it. I put 200 rounds of AA 223 through it yesterday and not one misfeed or missfire. It was smooth like butter I have been nothing but impressed with the ACR I'm even sellling my Robison XCR because of it

Not even close to the same thing. The original M16's experienced problems for two primrary reasons.

The US military thought they knew better than Gener Stoner and ignored his powder recommendation for the ammo. That caused massive problems that are totally unrelated to the design or construction of the rifle.

The US military in its infinite wisdom decided the M16 was self cleaning and thus did not need to be issued with a cleaning kit. However came up with the idea that the DI gas system didn't need cleaning was a total and complete moron.
