NON Restricted Colt Ar in .22lr

OK, if that is not classified as a variant what about the AK-47 from GSG? This is labeled a Kalashnikov by the manufacturer.

Not to be a dink but how is that possible? Is it a dedicated lower that is only RF? How is it not a variant? Even those POS squires bingham M16/22s are restricted. More details please...

I will take one for sure, count me in.

Until I see an FRT # this is about as promising as russell sports claiming that the R15 is non-restricted when they get it, that was about a year ago..

Then again :)

Depending on the action, it could be non-restricted. Does it use a direct impingment system? or a system similar to that of rugers 10/22?

It would be nice to see a review with a field strip.

Yeah, Im calling BS! I tried to get the crappy Bushmaster .22, which SHARES NO PARTS WITH A REAL AR, and was told that it was restricted due to it's 'likeness' to an AR15

(in the off chance that they are non-restricted, I'll take 2!)

I was just passing on what the distributor told me. Having said that, I have searched under Walther, Colt and Umarex and have yet to find the FRT.

Great minds think alike.
I did the same thing after being told the same story they told you and found the exact same results you did.
I held off ordering any until it is a proven fact that there is grey matter in Ottawa, given the GSG5 decision.

I played with it at SHOT. It's a .22lr blowback with a somewhat flimsy AR shell built around it. All of the parts are proprietary, including the magazines which are not interchangeable with the Black Dog ones. That being said, if this lump manages to get in as not being a variant, it will be a strong argument for having the GSG5 looked at again.
