Pretty much everybody in this thread actually.
The only reason we are even able to own AR's, let alone shoot them, is sheer luck.
Magazine capacity is a much, much, much bigger issue firearms-wide than rectricted vs non-restricted AR's.
How about I say "I vote for option #6: full auto suppressed non-restricted and a solid gold toilet for everyone!". Doesn't that sound better?
I think that de-restricting ARs would change the firearm scene so much in Canada that more attention would be given to semi-autos and it would be easier to change the laws on mag capacities because every joe shmoe would have an AR pinned to 5... on the contrary, say we got rid of capacity restrictions first, it wouldn't really shed any light on how to de-restrict the AR platform and in my opinion give the antis some serious ammo (pardon the pun). Not that mag caps change ANYTHING with firearms in criminal cicumstances, but it will be harder to hold onto, and harder to move on from there.
I vote #2 De-restrict ARs!
I strongly disagree. I'd much rather take an ar15 into the bush with 10 or 15 rounds then go with an xcr with 30. I personally don't need anymore then 10 rounds. You're crazy if you'd rather have an extra 15 or 20 rounds and save yourself that 2 second reload then have an ar15 with you in the bush
Non restricted AR's would lead to the biggest growth of the firearms community in canada in a long time..
due to their modularity and customization.
The AR industry that exists in the USA be it training videos, internet forums, small manufactuers of all sorts ar products,
The AR is a pretty much the center of the firearms sub culture.
This rifle would draw many young people getting into firearms for the above reasons, also the older fellows will like the .308 versions for their accuracy potential and the fact they are chambered in a real calibre.
my two cents more people involved in the community leads to more change if it was between mags and ARs hands down ARs non restricted.
