Even though I have my restricted license, I'm looking to see if there is such a thing as an AR 15 non restrictive. Or if an 18.5 inch barrels exists so I can swap it out? If so how would the rifle be classified if I have a 16 inch and 18.5 or longer barrel, can a rifle hold both classification?

If you want a good non-restricted black rifle prepare to spend an extra thousand dollars. Check out the XCR, ACR, Swiss Arms.

This has to be the 'nicest' forum I've ever been to where nobody gives the new guys a smack for asking the same dumb questions over and over again. Seriously, how long would it have taken the OP to either google the list of restricted/prohib'd firearms or use the search function?

how come these threads arent being axed ASAP, with the poster being sent a PM explaining bullpups, bear defense, shooting into space, etc

Seriously, can we get a sticky on this????? All we need is one post: YES THE AR IS RESTRICTED, STOP ASKING!

Apologies to the OP if this seems harsh but we see this like every other day or more.

There are non-restricted AR's, No, I won't explain further. Everyone with more than 5,000 posts has at least 2 of them and we're not sharing, telling or explaining - we also have 100 round drum mags (also completely legal). Why? We're better than you. So there.

Not really, we stuck with the same BS rles you are.

No non-restricted AR15s. The grand-daddy of the AR design, the original AR10 (not the new AR10), can be had in non-restricted. But there are only something like 3 in Canada and they're not made anymore.

There is a stickie in the legal section listing all the rules, regulations and list of all the named restricted and prohibited.

Your post proves that no one ever read the stickies anyways Laugh2

Yeah but it's not in the Black Rifle section. There's lots of sections and you can't always guarantee where someone will end up.

You are right though that a sticky will only help so much. People are lazy and don't seem to care to spend a few seconds with the search tool either.

I have been trying to gather information on these semi-auto AR10's for quite some time. Contrary to popular believe these rifles were not the KLM airline survival rifles because the KLM's were select fire.

It would be very nice to have a simple description of the nonrestricted rifles, such as: a) do they have flash-hiders, b) are they carbines as popularly reported, c) are they constructed for easy take down and storage [like a survival rifle], d) single piece handguard (Sudan) or 4-piece handguard (Porto?

The Dutch AR10 collectors are very anxious to learn more. Recently the original delivery documents have started to be scanned and organized. It is very possible that the serial number of any non-restricted AR10 can be investigated to determine the original buyer and original purpose of the weapons.

Any PM's or emails would be appreciated regarding these rifles. Below is an old advertisement...

In many ways I'm sorry that I even asked, I guess when everyone but there first AR knew everything from the get go. Just because my profile status is a newbie does not mean I'm new to the firearm world. Thanks to you guys with actual feedback.
