noncorrosive ammo

My Russian eats up corrosive no problem, why spend double the price on ammo for a SKS. And on top of that, my Russian does not have a chrome barrel, and since I clean it not long after firing it, there will never be a corrosive problem.

god bless windex and field cleaning, you dont have to clean your sks until it's neat and oil less, evec fill with oil it's gonna fire. my chiness sks has a gas tube filled with "tradition wonderlube 2000" a black powder grease that protect agains corrosion and it fires without problem

ya i shoot the crap

like it says i shoot the corrosive but it sure would be nice to get some noncorrosive stuff i got when i bought the sks 5 years ago just wondering where all the noncorrosive went .:runaway:

Still Free. Please tell me more about the windex. Are you saying you spray down with it until you can clean the rifle latter?

Slipp: Elwwod Epps sells Fiocci(?) 7.62x39 and also I think you may be able to find some federal stuff but you will pay more. My plan is to have some of both depending on if I can clean the rifle right afterward or not.

I would happily pay double the price of corrosive for non corrosive. Taking hot water to my range is just too much of a hassle and really it isn't feasible considering how far away my range is.

I do the same thing. It seems the ammonia in the windex neutralizes the salts in the primers of corrosive ammo. Simply flushing the barrel with hot water will do the same thing, but windex is more easy to use at the range. Do not forget the gas system also, it is not chrome, and will rust also. I do the windex thing or hot water, and then clean the rifle like I would normally clean any rifle with Break Free or some other product.

I think you guys are overreacting a bit with all the Windex and hot water stuff. I've been shooting corrosive in my CZ 858 for years now and I clean it the same way I clean after non corrosive ammo. Have yet to see any rust forming anywhere.

Do your really think that the soldiers in the field (for whom this ammo was intended) had Windex and hot water?

And what are you using to clean your CZ?

I would think it depends on the humitity levels. If you live where its warm and very dry I would bet you could go a while before having any corrosion problems. You just have to search some threads here and you will hear about people having rust in there barrels(Especially non chromed ones) or in their gas system due to corrosive ammo, so the problem does exist, but its easy to remedy.

I have heard that windshield washer fluid works much better than windex, as the alcohol is better at removing salts. It is also in the ratios provided less corrosive itself than windex is. It is also much cheaper and available at any gas station. However we arent allowed to buy surplus 7.62x39 down here in the states as some moron legislator determined it is all "Armor piercing pistol ammunition" since kalashnikov pistols became available and it is a rifle cartridge. So I havent really tested this theory too much.

If you'd ever seen any old yugo ak barrels and compared them to any chrome lined barrels you'd think differently about making sure you get all those salts out of any non lined parts.

On a vz58 with original barrel and post 62 stainless as block you are fine but with a non lined barrel I would wash thouroghly.

there is a pic of WWI soldiers floating around here , the pic shows them pouring water into a funnel attached to a pipe and down the rifle chamber.

i recently bot a norinco SKS , the exterior was very nice but the gas tube was rusted and so was the chrome bore , it was pitted ... some ninny put the theory that corrosive need not be cleaned to the test.

You only seem to be able to get Barnaul ammo here as its not fore sale as sp but its the same as the military, ####ty cases and leaves crapin the bore for ages despite cleaning!
I've started to use Youngs .303 oil and water at 50/50 mix as I used to for the old corrosive ammo.

I use this :D "The Perverse Peperes cleaning apparatus" :D

How much windshield fluid do you funnel through? After that do you wait a bit then run a bore snake or what ever through until you can get home and give it a better cleaning?
