XCR $2800-3000. ACR was just on sale for $2175I still like my XCR-L not a fan of polly frame guns other then a Glock. so ACR is a nope.

Awesome, when are the new SKS chambered in ,556 hitting the market ?Under 1000.00 something very reliable would be a SKS, those are fun... JP.
For $1000 I suggest you keep saving.
Don't forget to budget for optics which should be at least $400 for something decent and then you need to feed the rifle and decent 223 is going to run you $250+ tax for 1000 rounds.
If you go cheap on your optics you'll just be disappointed and end up upgrading later anyway which will cost more in the long run. Even the $250/1000 ammo isn't going to get you stellar accuracy but at least you'll be shooting and these rifles are hungry.
