noob brass question

Can you post a picture or a link to a similar one? If its the case mouth like this or a little worse http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5053/5724979744_1eb2843964.jpg you can straighten it a bit with a screwdriver or anything round and then run it through your sizing die part way. If it's a small lube dent it will fire form when you load and shoot it. Lots of new brass arrives like this and can be partially sized by running the expander of the sizing die in it and it's like new again.
Like the other poster said. Just resize them and you're good to go. Any minor dents in the rest of the case will get ironed out when you fire them. 60 k-psi has a habit of doing that.
If the case neck is too dented to allow easy entry of the expander plug, take a pair of needlenose pliers, closed, and push it into the case mouth. A quick turn and the case will be opened up enough to allow for easy entry of the expander plug and you can use your normal sizing die to even up the cases before reloading. No need to throw them away.

X2 on the needle nose pliers or any type of tapered round punch.
There are times when the case mouth may be too dented to allow easy access for the expander plug. If you don't "#### around" with a tapered punch or something easy to hand like a pair of needle nose pliers, you run the risk of bending or snapping the expander rod. I agree that a mild dent does not require this step.

Sad fact of life Gentlemen.
Bulk/bagged brass sold today is no wheres near the standard that brass sold in 20 round boxes years ago was.
I've thrown away 5 cases out of 50 case bags with both Remington and Winchester on a regular basis.
It's "bulk" brass and it's a fact of life.
If you want better than buy Nosler or Lapua. I've never seen a buggered up case in either of those brands.

LOL... What expander?
My Hornady new dimension FL die does not have a combination decap/expander... I do have a case flare die tho... Not all FL dies have expanders in them...
To the OP, what caliber brass are you reloading?
