Norc 1911 9mm, M14, CSA Compact, PPS50

UPS dropped mine off last night!! I have to first say thanks to Ryan and staff for putting up with me! ;-)
But I have to say my first impression with this unit is damn fine! Appears to be very good quality for the price point, sure it was soaked in oil but that is fine. The tolerances are better than I thought they would be and the finish is not bad at all. Did change out the grips right off the bat but even they were better than I expected! Overall A+++ for price, fit and finish. I will be shooting her tonight so I can't as yet comment about how she functions. And since the post is useless with out a pic...
Cheers all!

Finally had a good look at my np29 yesterday and today.
1911 are pretty awesome to field strip.

Some sharp corners, none seem to be a danger to my hand or fingers though.
Magazine springs are hard as hell to load. Not sure if that's expected or not.
Both magazines drop free when unloaded, from the pistol.
I thought the grips were plastic, but it's actually rubber and not bad.
Sights seem ok.
Not sure on the extended mag release. Yes, it unscrews if you don't like it.
But I like the extra length, sort of. Range time will give me an answer on a definite yeah or nay.
Trigger is better than I thought it would be. I have no fancy triggers in anything I own, and the np29 seems on par with them.
Safety, mag release, and slide stop are function fine. Not gritty.

Not sure when it'll see range time. I got to take the su16 out today as my scope rings arrived during the week.

Edit, Here's a picture. Click for larger.

Bought 3 of the NP29's. have tested them quite a bit and accuracy is not as good as other Norcs and other brands.

I rate groups as Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good and Very Very Good. All other pistols have at least one load that rates very Good, or better.

With these 3 a can barely rate a group good.

They have had trigger jobs, and sights look good enough for good shooting. Pistols seem nice and tight. One of them now has aboutr 1000 rounds through it, so it is broken in enough that it should shoot.

All 3 fire, extract, eject just fine and the mags are easier to load. All I need now is some accuracy.

Testing has been with DWG 125 and 135 lead Round Nose with Tight Group and Herco.

I have a Np28 (hi-cap 9mm) that groups much better. I will try another 9mm barrel in the Np28 to see if that makes any difference.

MTLean:

Did I see an ambidextrous safety on your NP29? Is it safe to assume they come this way? If they do, I'm terribly impressed! I might just snag another one of the NP29's.... :D

New Trigger

I installed a new trigger on my np29. It is from Brownells, Nighthawk Customs Match Grade Trigger (100-003-270). Minimal fitting required, just had to file a little off the top and bottom, other then that it slid right in.
Dry firing, you can notice the difference (using snap caps)..definately crisper, shorter pull..gotta get it to the range now and test it out.

Sorry the only picture is my avitar to the left..I am not able to post attachments or I can't figure it out.

Took the NP29 out to the range today. 150rnds of 115gr FMJ(American Eagle and MFS) no hiccups, 100% reliable. Not bad for brand new 'chinese junk'
