So I finally plunged and snapped up a 1911A1 Norc from the EE (thanks man, you know who you are) and I'm curious what with all of them out there, and all of the ammunition choices, I haven't seen any threads (I did try looking) saying that "...such and such ammo did not work well in my Norinco 1911." FMJ, Lead round nose, hollow point, flat nose, $15 a box or $50 a box, etc. Are they really that reliable and un-fussy?!? Since I'm really only interested in putting holes in paper, but with a big smile on my face of course, I don't need MOA accuracy, so I'm more interested in opinions/experience with all the $15/50 stuff. As I wait for the BC chief firearms officer to make sure all is well, I spend my time looking at ammo purchases, wondering which to grab. Help me out one and all.

I'd give the girl a dish from its home town. Norinco ammo (fmj/ball) is dirty but reliable and accurate. Best of all it falls in the low end of your price scale.

Since no one has mentioned it yet, pretty much any ammo with 230gr RN bullets will function fine. If OP decideds to try cast 200gr SWC or other bullet shapes things may not go as smoothly. Both my Norcs were fussy with the SWC and needed tweaking of the OAL to get things working properly.

All of the Norc ammo that I have shot functioned great, fairly accurate and yes of course dirty. But nothing beats the weird Chinese smell when you open the crate.
