Hi all,
Title says it - is the Armco tuned verison a significant improvement over the straight-out-of-the box Norinco 1911 (particularly the NP29 9x19 single stack)?

Thanks

I have an armco tuned norinco .45 and a out-the-box NP-29.

The armco trigger is much nicer/smoother/better, but the NP-29 isnt terrible or anything, it was much better than the recent remington 1911 I tried

But I think the armco gsg 1911 is a stretch, the GSG has an excellent trigger out of the box, dont think armco is really improving much

I don't have anything to compare it to, but my Norinco 1911 .45 from Armco is sweet. Trigger has a bit of creep in it, but it is nice and smooth and breaks clean. Overall pistol is tight and very accurate.

I've owned 2 identical Norc 1911 Compacts (Commander) - apart from the trigger job, the extractor tuning the throat and ramp job and the overall check up, you'll also get tightened slide to frame fit (done properly) and the barrel hood and lugs to slide and link are checked (barrel fit). Oh yes, and a 1 year warranty. This barrel fit is important, it can take several hundred rounds to a thousand rounds find out the hard way that it isn't right. The one year warranty is nothing to sneeze at either. I still have the Armco Norc, the untuned gun is gone. For what you pay for the Armco tune with most 'smiths you'll get a trigger job and maybe an extractor tune. The Norc I have will function flawlessly with any bullet profile and is accurate and reliable, functionally it's the equivalent of ANY other 1911 and better than most, regardless of cost

This is great to see, since I just ordered an Armco tuned 5" 1911 this morning. I hope it is all you say and more. If I could replace the sights for a reasonable price it would be my perfect high value workhorse.

I can say the same for my 3 Norkie 45acp 1911s, none which are Armco'd or tuned...except that they are only 100% reliable with my Round Nose reloads. Truncated Cone heads give 1-2% Failure to Feed. Of course I can live with the slightly creepy and gritty triggers until they smooth out with use, and my hands have developed callouses where they rubbed against the rough spots:D

While the trigger job is great, armco never did tighten the slide to frame fit on mine

Fired an Armco tuned Norc a few weekends ago. It was really nice. Not long, smooth and crisp.

My stock Norinco had so much travel that I'd get bored and start thinking about dinner half way through. It was also rough and heavy but it was my first pistol so I didn't know how bad it was. It's smoothed out some and I've gotten used to it but shooting that tuned one really opened my eyes and I'm thinking of getting mined tuned.

If I had to do it over again, I'd go with an Armco tuned one. Sure I can get mine done, but the extra ATT and/or shipping are going to be added hassle I could have avoided if I'd just saved up a little extra cash before buying.

I'm not saying all Norcs have bad triggers, I'm saying any manufacturer can have one, and to have a smith give it a quick tune adds value in my opinion.
