first M305 blew up
Second M305 required over $2000 in parts and gunsmithing to fix failure after failure of parts
Been cut many times by the slide on one of there 1911 knock offs
Had the bolt fail on a .22 of theirs
Issues with feeding on a SKS that could not be fixed without remilling the receiver... aka hours with a dremel tool.
I've personally handled over half a dozen M305's that had serious issues ranging from $100 fixes to "you might as well chuck it unless you drop over $1500 in parts" catastrophe guns right out of the box.
One had head space in excess of 12 thou over field, a bent op rod that would not allow the action to cycle without the use of a foot and a front site so canted i doubt you could zero it.... that was right out of the box.
Norc is crap. I have yet to handle a fire arm from them, or for that matter any of my buddies as well that has not failed in less then a 1000 rounds or came ####ed up.
i'll never buy another firearm under there name or any of their subsidies
You have got to be the unluckiest gun owner I have ever heard of.....
Last I checked, no one was comparing a Norc to a deployment rifle, and although not competing seriously on a national level, the Norc (with norc ammo I might add) has ousted plenty of ppl running expensive setups in the $2K+ range at local multigun and tac rifle matches. It's just a fun gun to shoot without care. It's accurate and reliable for me. For someone looking to run a reliable rifle on a budget, this is a great start. And well worth it IMO. Everyone is entitled to buy what they want. That's what makes this a fun hobby, sport, etc.
Anything is possible at an informal shoot where pikers with bargain basement guns and ammo might outshoot another piker with quality equipment I suppose. And gawd knows it doesn't get much more informal than the clubs I shoot at...but if you think you are going to take me to school with a Norc M14 I have some very, very bad news for you. Given the QA/QC issues I steer the noobs away from them if I can. For $450.00 you can get a great milsurp K98 or K31 and shoot circles around any Norc off the rack and most that have been 'accurized'.
But the fact is that if you are going to seriously compete - the Norcs are better left in the bargain bin or left for the noobs to play with.
More like it was cheap and it does the job is more the theme I thought?
Candocad.
Really everyone keeps saying how good US guns are guess there are all kinds of excuses for just them not Norinco.......

Have you seen any of the Springer Kabooms on the net? The vast majority of rifles that fail in a catastrophic manner do so because someone thought reloading for a semi auto was the same as reloading for a bolt gun.
Norc bashing is it really warranted?
I knew a mechanic that had a perfectly good generic toolbox as he couldn't afford more at the time, after a while he picked up a snappon name brand box to replace it (looked pretty much the same with form and function). I understand there would be some increase in quality but certainly not enough to warrant the huge (seriously huge)price discrepancy. When I asked him about it he explained that in the mechanic world the type of tools and box you have will translate into respect or lack thereof from other mechanics. true story.
