Norc CQ-A (M4) 5.56mm My 1st AR type rifle

Congrats on the new toy! I love mine. Few pointers, the mags that come with it are pretty much useless, so it is a good thing you picked up some others. The sling that comes with them is a mystery, although there are some that have figured it out (if I recall correctly it is based on an HK style sling), however I picked up a single point for mine. And lastly, initially mine had problems ejecting spend casings, as in it would get caught up in the receiver/bolt on every single round, so all I did to fix this was install the $20 BCM Extractor Upgrade Kit. Now it runs like a top. Great little firearms for the money. Other than that enjoy and blast away!

Agreed that the sling is useless, have never had any issues with the mags though

Get off the bench and learn to shoot prone, sitting, kneeling and standing. You will find it far more interesting than bench shooting with this type of rifle!

LOL! I tried shooting standing last time at the range and I'm so shaky now the rifle was weaving all over the place. I'll stick with bench thanks.

Come out on the 14th of May to the service rifle shoot. We will show you some tricks on how to shoot accurately out to 300m with iron sights. Email me at armtrain@gmail.com and I'll forward you some information on a basic shooting skills course that is available.

Shooting is no fun if you can't hit what your aiming at and this basic course has been highly recommended to others by those whom have taken it!

Mine has done the same thing since I got it just under a year ago with less than 1000 rds through it. I installed an upgrade extractor spring kit...didn't help. First shot fired after the spring was installed.....fresh after a good cleaning....fail to eject. Next step for me is a replacement extractor or full bolt/bolt upgrade kit. Haven't decided how much I want to invest in a $600 Chinese AR. Might just sell it and get a good ole American made AR.....in hind site knowing what I know now I probably would have bought the S&W M&P 15 sport for not to much more than what I paid for the CQ A and been guaranteed to have a flawless AR. Just my $.02.

So with the extractor mod, I take then the bolt is Milspec?
I noticed the buffer/butt extension is wider.
My plan is however, to keep it as is, no aftermarket parts until necessary. The only thing I might do is mount a scope.

Congrat. I,ve shot the 311 since they came on the market, your new Norinco unmatched for price and quality, our police forces and military uses the same rifles built by colt @$3000 plus, enjoy your toy,

Well I snuck out to the range yesterday and put every mag thru it without a stoppage. At 25m I loaded the mag with 1x FC, Win, SB and 223 soft point. All the 55 gr bullets struck the same hole and Soft point hit lower left of mpi. At 50m the grouped opened up but that could have been the nut behind the butt as I was more concerned with the Norc mag feed issue. And with that I had zero issues during the shooting stage. I did notice though that with the Norc mags, you need to tilt the mag rearward when loading I found. If you hold it upright the bullets start move out of position. I then moved to 100m and fired off 10 more rounds. The mpi was 12" high from aim point or center of mass. So I bottomed out the elevation and this moved mpi approx 5-6" lower so the 55gr bullets are high at 100yds without hold off. Then at 200m, well like the typical square front sight post all I could see was post lol so I didn't go on to 300m. I must say this Norc M4 is a hoot to shoot. No complaints from this guy. I took very few pics and did a short vid but can't get them off my BlackBerry. Next range shoot I'll bring more ammo, Thx all

All the cheapo norcs I've owned have surprised me. The M4 is a workhorse. Cannot go wrong with any norcs in my opinion as long as your expectations are realistic. This is one case where u get more than what you pay for...

Huntsman congratulation on your first AR15. A great rifle at a great price. No worries here. As to your POI versus your POA,.... go on the web and learn how to correctly zero an M-4 carbine with the A3 sight's 300/600 meter. I believe its two or three clicks down form the 300 meter setting and then your adjust your elevation by moving your front sight, in your case up,... so you strike point of aim at 25 meters?? I can't remember if you use the battle(large) or the longer range(smaller) aperture. So many different ways based on A1, A2, M-4 300/600 14.5" barrel,... 20" barrel Gov't with 300/800 sights etc etc,,,,,,,

I remember how to zero my 20" Gov't A1 sights for 250/375meter zero's, but forget the M-4 way. Anyhow like I said there's a wealth of info on the web for proper zero's based on whoever's philosophy is followed, US ARMY, US Marines etc, and other civilian shooters with great ideas on useful zeros with irons,..good luck.

I re-zeroed my Norc to 50-200yard zero today, still surprised every time I shot my Norc, for the $480 bucks I paid it did same grouping at 50m as my KAC which cost me an arm and a leg,
my kac still is the King of the hill smoothest and softest shooting AR I own with a nice 2 stage trigger, but again for the money I paid for my Norc, It killed paper and steel plates just as effectively , for $2000 less!!

she even looks half-###y with lip sticks on. congrats again op btw, happy shooting!
